not for me but looks practical for diving at least. I would appreciate numbers on the dial.
>>10739771

>>10739769
I just bought a vostok with basically the same plans too. hello my meme brother.
There's already another thread and it's not even near 300 posts.
>>10739769
I love the Monster. It's an ugly watch, but its that endearing kind of ugly. The toothy indices are a great design. It's not the best diving watch, if you're using it for that purpose, but it'll do.
>>10739934
judging by that first post its a troll thread

I love the monster and it´s one of my favourite beater watches. But the movement cant compare with eta or swiss inhouse movements so you will have to cut the seiko some slack. Of thats all right with you go for it. Btw the bracelet is very good on the price range but i dont like the push pin business. Give a super engineer some thought with screwed in links (see picture).
Thoughts? First watch. Is this a safe choice for an office environment job with semi-formal clothing?
>>10741077
Mah nigga.
>>10742675
That's an ugly choice but yeah you probably wouldn't get kicked out of the office or anything. I'd rather not awful rose gold and not a chrono for that purpose, myself.
You can't stretch your budget to like $300 for a SARB? I think it's a watch you can dress up or down really easily so it should work well as your only watch and it's a great high quality watch. Or there's also a quartz Seiko which is a lot cheaper and looks similar, I forget what the model name is but it says SAPPHIRE on the dial.
>>10742715
My budget is up to ~$600. I'm open to any suggestions, as I'm rather clueless about watches in general.

A lot of people like the Tissot Visodate, I don't
Lew and Huey Cerberus if you want to try a microbrand
Omega Seamaster if you want to go vintage and dressy
I think those are all pretty good casual or dressy-ish watches in your price range, there's probably more too.
opinions on pic rel? Heard that ticking is loud, is it really such a problem?
My daily wear
>>10742946
Autists will give you shit for posting it but desu its a good starter watch if you want something cheap and simple. It would probably look good with a nato or perlon strap as well.

yes. look at the amazon reviews. same shit with swatch (plastic ones at least).

>>10743931
>SAPPHIRE
>TITANIUM
Why do watchmakers do this? If I own the watch I already know what features it has.
>>10743982
For secondary market
>>10743982
Honestly I can think of no reason why except that they want to shit up lesser watches to make more expensive watches more appealing. That watch would look too much like the SARB without the big ugly all caps text, and the SARB itself would look too much like a Grand Seiko without the black stripes on the hands and the lume.

The saphire and titanium indications on most seikos do not match the watch's features as they typically use standard mineral or hardlex and stainless steel.
wearing this today, been a while
thoughts?
>>10746228
I don't believe that for one second. at least do your research. they only have a few titanium watches in the catalogue available as opposed to the abundance of regular stainless steel watches. they have no reason to fucking lie like that.
>>10746214
What? The thread hit the bump limit and got archived, what the hell do you think happened? I made a new one just for you.
>>10746228

Despite the "SAPPHIRE TITANIUM" inscriptions, it only uses a hardlex crystal with the titanium case.

>trusting an amazon product description over the words that are literally printed in big ugly bold letters on the dial
I'm sure none of Amazon's one gorillion product listings for all the shit they sell are ever incorrect. Surely whatever amazon employee made the listing happens to be an expert in watches and wasn't just copy pasting from the million other Seiko listings they have.
>>10746367
Then make the thread yourself goddamn it's not like you need special privileges to do it.
>>10746365
amazon descriptions are OFTEN wrong, especially with things like case diameter and thickness as well. your previous reasoning was about how Seiko does something "typically" which doesn't have to mean anything. besides, if they dupe costumers like that, they'd damage their reputation pretty quickly if they use fake materials or similar. watch experts would find out pretty quickly if that watch wasn't titanium and sapphire.
>>10746438
SAPPHIRE is just the name of a seiko watch line, just because it is the same name as a material doesn't mean it is the same.
Moreover, the sgg729 is marked every single place as being hardlex, not sapphire. Find me even one mention anywhere of it having a sapphire dome.
Fucking seiko shills.
come to think of it though: maybe "hardlex crystal" is something that applies for both mineral and sapphire crystals. it's their own patented thing after all.
>>10746469
>SAPPHIRE is just the name of a seiko watch line
could be the case as well. I don't know that watch line though. either way, that's terribly misleading then. what's the point then.
>>10746469
>Find me even one mention anywhere of it having a sapphire dome.
the german amazon listing for that particular watch but they might be wrong and it's all based on shoddy assumption and mistranslation then.
http://www.amazon.de/Seiko-SGG731-Quarz-Herren-Armbanduhr-SGG731P1/dp/B000J1YMWW
>>10746476
No. Hardlex is a Seiko trademark name for hardened mineral glass. Sapphire is sapphire.
>>10746469
Actually sapphire is just the name of a corundum gemstone. It is commonly used in watches because large crystals of it can be grown easily and its tremendous hardness makes it useful as a material for watch crystals. The word sapphire appears on that watch because the crystal of the watch is actually a very large synthetic sapphire crystal of extremely high purity, which is why it doesn't have the blue color characteristic of more impure natural sapphires which are given that color by traces of iron. In fact sapphires exist in various colors due to various different impurities which may be present, including the very common red sapphires which are typically called rubies.
>>10746505
That's the sgg731p1, not the sgg729. The sgg731p1 does in fact have a sapphire crystal.
>>10746541
I thought the only thing that differs is the dial color, going by those numbers.
>>10744632
This one is fucking nice. Passing a jeweler that has this one each day, really tempted to get it.
Thinking of copping myself a skx007. However, I have small wrists. Will this look huge on me? It's 41mm.
>>10747043
It has a pretty big diameter but the lugs aren't too long or flat so it actually wears pretty well for its size. Divers are supposed to be big anyway. You'll probably be fine, remember it was made with skinny limpwristed Japanese men in mind.

Just got pic related the other day and I'm not a fan of the rubber strap. Any suggestions on what would look good?
>>10747737

Just get a black and white NATO it'll look fine
What're your thoughts on this watch? I've been thinking about getting it myself.
>>10747737
A perlon strap would look nice
>>10747737
Fucking love it. I have medium sized wrists and I worried it would be too big. It's really not. It fits well.
It's a bit heavy and thick but that's to be expected and that's what I was looking for. The metal of the bezel looks a little cheap up close but at arms length it looks fucking great.
Good watch for the money. Would recommend.
>>10747815
Thanks! That looks really good. I'll start searching.
Personally I've got a thing for minimal watches. No numbers or fucking 3 more dials in the clockface, nunnathat.

Can anyone recommend some watches for someone with small wrists?

My dad used to wear pretty nice watches when he was younger, but now it's all TICK TICK TICK Timex weekenders and easy readers for him. He likes cheap disposable watches because they always inevitably get wrecked at work after a few months. He's always gouging the crystals or even shattering them.
Question, I've got some other watches but I'm not a connoisseur and I've got gifted a fossil grant, which I do like but I feel that the gold color makes it look tacky, do you agree? Also, I only see myself using this when I'm wearing a tie, thoughts?

>>10752054
Gold is fine if it's a nice little dressy low-key watch but a bigass fuck-off 44mm chrono in fake gold is absolutely tacky. I agree that a gold watch is inherently pretty dressy, but since the watch is oversized and isn't a dressy style at all I think it pretty much can't go with anything.
>>10752064
Thanks, I agree on your points, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't being overly critical of it. I think I could get away with asking my father the possibility to change it for a different color, or just a different model entirely.

>>10752735

>>10752739
I'd say get the white one. it's less dour.
I find black dials to be a bit less versatile.
>>10752735
The problem that you have probably comes from the fact that that's your first watch. If I'm right, just keep the black one cuz it's pretty versatile.
You'll figure out what you want from a watch by yourself as you continue to wear it.
>>10752874
