The safe bet is usually a button-down with some dressy pants (i.e. not jeans) and MAYBE a sweater or casual blazer.

Really, with semi-casual, first thing I think of are khakis, a dark designed button down and a matching sweatshirt to go over that then roll sleeves. Add a pair of suede shoes and a watch to top it off
