thanks! there's not really a specific place that I got this from - i used to draw exclusively manga-esque stuff (like ten years ago) and i think ever since then my style has just been trying to work away from that. at the moment i'm just trying to be fluid and not too locked in to a single way of drawing - probably because i'm doing a freelance-ish job that requires something totally the opposite. it's all a bit reactionary i suppose. sorry i can't point you to anything specific but thanks for asking!

but leopard print is considered gaudy by many, including me.
It's not that matching outerwear is bad, but it's not very flattering in this case.
a contrasting jacket would have been much better in my opinion, light grey or navy for example.
and when you're wearing such loose fitting clothes, you really need a chunkier shoe to make this work.
black socks would be fine if the footwear was black, but even then i think no-show socks would have been a better choice.

It's very flattering and loose outfit with chunky shoes does NOT work, please don't do that to yourself.
Changing to jacket to light grey or navy would kill what's otherwise a perfect fit. the pic you posted >>10704119 is a very good demonstration of how to that, 1st pic is natural and slick, your pic is too try hard, layering is all over the place, jacket feels completely out of place despite being blue, and overly baggy pants, must be the model though, looks too tall to make it work. The hair isn't doing him any favors.

What kinda pens do you use to get that rad line quality? I use rapidographs, copic multiliners, a brush, and nibs but I can't figure that nice grain out. Is it your paper?

my pen's just a uni pin fine liner, but yeah - i'm using a Fabriano sketch pad which has a lil bit of grain to it. try something toothy! im also not putting much pressure on which i think helps - lets the paper speak through the ink (sounds wanky but ya know)

Leopard print IS gaudy, even in the pic you posted. leopard shoes are always a no go.
chunky shoes would make it more flattering, the styling in the picture you replied to is so much better,
they actually took silhouette into consideration. yours looks like a damn carrot.
and the color of the jacket is what made the first fit bland and boring, it doesn't "kill" a "perfect" fit, it makes it more interesting.
the only thing is the hair, you're right about that. but i guess they just styled it like that for the show.
