grey wool socks work with quite a bit, black will work with what grey does not.

not necessarily the devil but hard to make work. 9/10 times grey does the job better than white.

Generally just match colors with pants to make it flow well. Experiment and you will find what is good etc. Buy some black and some gray socks from uniqlo and expand from there. It's always easier to work with unsaturated colors and simple/no patterns.

Smart Wool socks are really fucking awesome. I think my 3 pairs are going on to their 3rd year. Granted they only see action when it's cold, but they are fucking great for the price.
