I went a few weeks ago. For a while I was the only person in the store. Super friendly sales staff. Beautiful building. The smoke wall is awesome.

They're happy to let you try anything on. I was trying out leathers and the woman helping me suggested I check out the Memphis jeans, which I liked a lot more than I had expected. She told me that their favorite thing to do is dress people up so even if you aren't planning on buying anything it's a super fun experience.

Sock sneakers, Geobaskets, the knitted cashmere pod shorts which were absurdly luxurious and soft. I forgot about the geopatch tunic otherwise I would've asked for one in my size. The winter leathers were nice but I think I wanted something thinner so I didn't try any of those on.

I wanted to try on the bodybag they had but I didn't end up working up the courage to do it. It was beautiful in person, though.

They said that in mid-December they would be getting the SS16 stuff in stock so if you're set on seeing Sphinx you should probably go soon. I don't know how much the stock is going to change when they get the Cyclops stuff in.

anyone know if tech runners are on sale anywhere?

Hey /rog/ myhabit has some pretty neat deals for some rick. Especially the one size jerseys (I would have copped if I wasn't a manlet).

It's an extra 20% off today for cyber monday. Use the code CHEERY20

http://www.myhabit.com/#s?keyword=rick%20owens%20men&ref=kw_s_s

I'm not likely to make use of the invitation stuff but here's the link anyway if you want.
http://www.myhabit.com/ref=qd_mr_per_l?refcust=JZWG2UH75RFAD2P3MIGHOQE6ZQ

You think Rick will ever make the jerseys in actual sizes? I've read they fit like M-L so for me it's pretty retarded even considering it.

I bought mine retail because of the same reason. Got a good price though
>>
>>10662642
If you don't mind me asking, what do you consider a good price for retail? I've given up hope of finding a pair any other way.
>>
>>10662675
I've had them a while but I think I paid like 350 or 375 usd. But had one of those 10% newsletter signup discounts
>>
>>10662692
Oh alright, that's actually pretty reasonable. I'm on the lookout for a good retail price for them. Or if anything pops up on grailed anytime soon.
>>
>>10662705
The dust ones go really cheap. Picked some fleece ones up last year for like 150
>>
>>10662713
I'll look into that as well then. I'm just deliberating whether or not I need an xs. I've been told small before and I've only owned the Berlin pants. I would assume the fit is a bit different but I'm unsure about that.

Height: 6'
Waist: 29
>>
>>10662719
Definitely XS with a waist of 29. At 6ft you would need to wear them a bit lower around your hips as theyre shorter in the leg (most people wear them around the waist usually)

I'm a 28/29 waist and tried on S and was swamped in them.
>>
>>10662730
I figured as much. I just wanted to get another opinion before I buy them. I'll keep an eye out for an alright price and hope they have my size. Thanks for the help and all. I'm in pretty much every Rick thread but have yet to buy prisoners for whatever reason. Very excited for them.
>>

When I eventually wind up in an office job I don't want to wear a trad suit - any thoughts on this?

Major issue is everyone who dresses in formal/semi-formal rick seems to look so out-of-place. Only things I can think of are white button up (pic related), unstructured blazer, astaire trousers + cuban heels, boots under trousers, reverse-leather chukkas.

It'd probably be best to branch out into diciannoveventitre/ccp/drklandsberlincore if I need to comply to a dress code - its just that I never feel the same level of comfort wearing anything but R/O ;[
>>
>>10662920
Why not worry about it when you come to it? It will definitely depend on the environment. My office dress code is business casual so I can get away with wearing some drapey shit every now and then. Usually I just stick to black rm williams/acne jeans/white dress shirt because wearing a uniform is easier, if you feel me

Casual fridays are when it gets real fun :~)

I've always wondered why people buy stuff then pretty much immediately put it on grailed saying "worn once"

Theyre either lying about the wear or they just like losing money right?
>>
>>10663257
My guess is that a lot of people don't have either the wardrobe or the confidence to wear a lot of stuff and it just ends up unworn
Might as well get a bit of money back by selling them, in that case

I've sold stuff as 'worn once'.
In my case it's like new but for whatever reason the item hasn't suited me or just can't force its way into my everyday wardrobe. I generally make a negligible loss.
I've also had good experience, in general, with buying that way. The lack of tags being the only indication the item wasn't new.

hey guys, shouls i trade a satg geo in hammered lamb for a bauhaus in blistered lambskin?
please help me out rick experts

pic related to the thread but not the post
>>
>>10663351
Literally whatever you like most.

Im not a fan of geos and blistered lamb is my favourite material so I know what I would do.

I'm actually looking for a bauhaus or a scuba at the moment
>>
>>10663257

In my case, I purchased for really cheap and it's just sitting my closet literally only having been worn once. Would rather move the money around to buy something I'll actually use.

>>10663351
Assuming you're the person with the stag geo, this is not a good trade in my opinion. Depends greatly on the condition of the garments and the season that the Bauhaus was made in.
>>
>>10663363

I've got a couple bauhaus, what size are you looking for?

If you have t-shirt that are long, they will compliment a pair of pods or other rick shorts and wearing a normal length tee fucks off the long silhouette.

With leggings get uniqlo heat techs as they're cheap but working well for the purposes, just make sure you wash them inside out on gentle cycle as they tend to pile
>>
>>10665305
Which rick tees do you like best? I went through a lot of the sales going on, and there are so many different types of tees and longsleeves and tanks idk what to start with
>>
>>10665314
shit... i have a lot... so it depends on the occasion lol

It's summer in Sydney so I have 3 multiples of the same black drkshdw (ss15) cotton sleeveless shirts (5 if you count the dust and pearl ones) and i rotate them through the half a dozen shorts I have. I have about a dozen in short sleeve and long sleeve in drkdhsw too, they're the beaters, you can wear them everyday and not worry too much. They are almost all i wear casually in summer.

Where as the mainline tees tend to be a mix of fabrics ranging from wool to nylon to silk, those you've gotta treat a little better and I use them for layering when I goto events.

Basically starting out i'd recommend doing drkshdw 100% cotton, grab a short sleeve as it won't be too much out of your comfort zone and it'll last. Remember that unless you have other clothes with a similar aesthetic language even one Rick piece can throw your entire outfit/wardrobe out of whack. So it's somewhat difficult to start with only one piece.

But having said that a S/S drkshdw tee with fitted black jeans (doesn't have to be rick) is a good start. Make sure you got some sweet kicks to go along with it as the thing about Rick is that his entire silhouette is grounded in footwear.
another note in the online stores see if the model is wearing a semi transparent shirt, those usually are a mixed fabric or a super light weight cotton, unless you're cool with people seeing ya nip nips, avoid them.
>>

>>10664293

I'm pretty sure most high end-retail tends to start you off at 13/hr. My friends works at Theory and he gets paid 13/hr. At a younger age that's not bad. Although i feel like most people work at higher end retail as a side job or something

Thanks alot man. I went with a safer colour way since it's my second rick piece i've ever owned and i don't really have much to work with
>>
how much should i pay for a used Stooges Dark Shadow leather? Lamb.
>>
So I think rick is doing vanilla soles again. The AW15 ramones I have, 2 pairs with white soles smelled a bit like vanilla. The pair of black ones still smelled like rubber though.
>>
>>10666142
My leather socks smell like vanilla, tell me more about this?
>>
>>10665856
Do not cop either, they both look really gaudy.
>>10666007
Eh, I see drk dust stooges for for like 500-600 so I really wouldn't pay more than that. I would say anything less than 500 is a good deal.
>>
>>10666376
yeah, can't seem to see either of them working, maybe i should get some ramones, or ann d high tops, or just wait and get some geos

Picked up Creeper Boots for $465. Brand new with the box. Decent price?
>>
>>10666268
ahhh good, I haven't bought socks yet, gonna wait till next season when they come down next year.

Basically old Rick (Pre-AW12) soles all smelled like vanille, so when you first opened the box you don't know if it was a pair of sneakers or a giant scented candle.

The current ones don't smell as strong, but that might be good because the old soles were not hard wearing at all.

>>10666454
for sure dude. I picked my up for 550 and I thought they were a steal.
>>
Hey rick fans, could someone please show me a picture of these being worn? I can only find Geos.

Recently got a drkshdw full zip hoodie for 100 as my first rick piece. Looking to get more into rick.
My budgets around 4-500, and I have a friend who can get me 40% off at Nordstrom, but I don't know if that'd be the cheapest retail or if itd be better than 2nd hand. What should I look into now to build my wardrobe? Prisoners, save for Ramones, t-shirts or what?

Also what places are good to keep an eye on for good prices, and when would be the best time to buy?

Also I'm in Canada if that makes a big difference
>>
>>10665355
I have pants, shoes and outerwear, but just not tees hahahah

Thanks a lot senpai

>>

no probs there dude, you can grab BBS, Julius or a whole heap of other designers who've jumped on the long silhouette bandwagon. as long as the shirt complimets the lowered crotch and expanded volume it's all good :)

>>10666496
>>
>>10666521
>>10666513
From Vancouver. Got it at a place in Tokyo, had mmm, the soloist, junya, yohji all for cheap. None fit me till I found the hoodie.

Where should I get the Ramones? And drkshdw or mainline? Specifically looking at the nylon ones
>>
>>10665745
Really cool.

I think I would struggle with these, seem to form to wear with ramones or geo's so I think I would be limited to combat boots, creepers or socks (if I had them :(( )

And I only have spiral creepers and I don't think they work with shorts
>>
>>10666541
Nylon ones are from drkshdw.

>>10666542
Formal* damnit
>>
>>10666547
Haha yes they are was asking if the drkshdw (specifically nylon) are worth getting instead of mainline, would the skimping be too bad or what
>>
>>10666560
In my preference I would definitely spend extra for mainline. I've actually got my eye on some ss16 mainline ones.

The drkshdw ones are nice but they just don't do it for me unless I could get them for a steal
>>
If you can get the leather ramones for a good prices then grab them. The leather is good and really durable. That said I have waxed and nylons drkshdw ramones too and they're all great.

Just find them for a price that's good for you, don't over spend anymore than you have to.

>>10666664

I've always admired Rick's consistency and totally unique vision, always looking at his stuff, but never really diving into it so my opinion may or may not hold any weight but

I always kind of felt like his clothes are being worn 'wrong' if you can even say that...

I dunno, I just feel like the stuff wasn't meant to be worn in some kind of aspirational cool dark streetweary head to toe fit like this, it's like an easy conclusion to make

just from his interviews and personality, fits like this dont feel to me like what he's trying to do.. to me it feels like rick should be worn much more goofy? like light heartedly?

i dont even know, this is a weak critique and its peoples freedom to wear it and translate someones work however the fuck they want but i feel like rick owens has been adopted into this false image or something and isnt what he was going for in the first place

does anyone feel me or am i just dumb ok bye holy fuck there is a bee in my room
>>
>>10666674
thx

i didnt size up, it would probably be too big
>>
>>10666739
>its peoples freedom to wear it and translate someones work however the fuck they want

i agree with this

art is open to interpretation

who cares if people want to style it different from what the artist's original intention is. it's cool that people are enjoying it and they are doing new and cool things with it

life would be boring if u always had to follow rules

idk y u quoted me in particular but yeah
>>
Would it be possible for a cobbler (?) to shorten the tongue on geos to that similar to the short-tongue iteration?
>>
>>10666751

yeah and i feel like rick is the type of cool guy that he is totally incapable of even conceiving the idea of giving a shit about how people take and wear his stuff

i think what i wanted to say is that i miss when 'rick owens' didnt have such a concrete formulaic pattern when if comes to outfits now

like see this

http://humalien.tumblr.com/post/129542910336/going-on-streetpeeper-always-makes-me-sad-because

i think alot of these were before rick owens got really fuckign huge as he is right now, these just feel more fun and cool to me, its like they were integrating rick's clothes into their wardrobe instead of it being the other way around nowadays where people are just trying to become an image of what rick owens has become in popular media today

am i making any sense at all fuck im sorry its late im tired as fuck and have a shitton of homework
>>
>>10663800
wtc those shoes
>>
>>10666541
gonna give u a whats up if I ever see u in the wild fellow van rick bro

tfw never see anyone wearing rick
>>
>>10666767

When I see those people I imagine them having been like, 'oh shit wow this rick owens guy is making really beautiful leather jackets' or 'wow what a lovely luxurious looking fur coat' or like 'damn those sneakers are super badass!!!' or 'wow that is a cute cardigan' and then saving money and buying it and being like yes this is awesome!! and wearing it with the rest of their other clothes

instead of now it's like

theres a concrete image or frame of reference of what people think "RICK OWENS FASHION" should be

its almost like people who are only getting into it now after he's blown up can't unsee or exit the frame of reference of what it has been adopted into, kind of like how you cant unsee cdg play logo being fucking fucked now whereas maybe 6-7 years ago you might have thought 'hey thats a really cute logo' without any of the added connotations / cultural images / social significance

its like if u got into rick owens after a certain point its way too easy for you to just see it as :

raf sion rick owens geobasket long tshirt dropcrotch sick fit all black instagram fashion x 1000

hahahaha what the fuck is this even a valid critique im totally just imagining what those peoples mindsets were

i dunno take it or leave it i feel like what i might be saying might make sense to a sliiiiiiiiiiiight degree
>>
>>10666541

Are you me I'm from Vancouver and went to Tokyo last year

Not into Rick though
>>
>>10666781
>>10666767
i get what you're saying

i mean im pretty new to all this, and i dont claim to be any sort of trendsetter or anything

i pick out and wear what i enjoy, that's all that matters, right? even if what i enjoy is not "cool and fun" or if it's not a new idea yeah?
>>
>>10666815

yeah and in no way am i telling you that you're doing it wrong or ur a fashion victim fuccboi or whatever, i guess id just like to see people do other parts of rick's work justice, like i love his tailoring, his coats and trousers etc but i hardly ever see people wearing those you know?

you do you man that was just a tangent i went off on while doing homework
>>
>>10666767
I definitely get what your getting at.

Its why I try and mixing my rick stuff with other designer stuff. Even though dressing up full Ricky is fun to.

The best idea is to have some variation and not think just because I'm wearing pods means I need a full rick fit
>>
>>10666820
>>10666820
yeah i feel you

i think it's just harder to fit into what most people are used to wearing, plus it's harder to find inspiration if you aren't already exposed to it all, plus the less common items are less accessible, especially if you're looking for things secondhand

good discussion

get to work man, finals are coming up
>>
>>10666664
I can tell your fit is pretty cool, but your posing is awful. For future fit pics just take a neutral stance with arms relaxed to the side, or even better a picture taken while you are in motion ala Adam Katz Sinding
>>
>>10666520

>>10666897

>>
>>10666953

>>
>>10666953
I size up, i like the extra baggy feel, but it depends on the tees to as the jumbos are obviously looser fitted where as mainly silk mixes will be slimmer and cling to the bod.

I go 1 size because it's better to go bigger in Rick in my opinion, especially if you work out.

These are great posts m8s
I'm going to be copping some of my first Rick real soon and I was pretty stressed over how far to go because all I ever see is full Rick fits. Most of my fits are like pic related so I'm pretty confident that if I get some geos or ramones and some nice tees I'll be able to incorporate them pretty well into my current wardrobe.

So basically thx for the reassurance
>>
>>10667021

yeah if i ever ended up getting any rick i think id get a pair of ramones or a cool ass big parka and wear it with band tees and / or my favourite gildan heavy blend sweaters in 2XL with some thrifted pants and go out and have a blast and forget all about whatever the fuck im wearing

ive always thought itd be 'fun' to wear rick if that makes sense? just never bought into it because i just dont look good in alot of it and i spend my money on other designers

>>
>>10667629

This is wrong. Anything before FW13 has that product code. 2012 had a lowercase "made in Italy" (at least for Mountain, not positive about Naska) also the fact that it's made in Italy at all and lastly the sizing being XL rather than Italian sizing leads me to believe it's solidly earlier than Mountain. Probably 2010-2011
>>
>>10667699
Oh was it '13? My mistake.

Didn't know about the lower case manufacture detailing, interesting to know.
>>
>>10667709

Specifically FW13. Island had the old code.
>>
>>10667723

It also has "Made In Italy" in lower casing.

So does FW12. I'm not sure about SS12 but I'm pretty sure it was just those three seasons that had lowercase

This is why I like B/B Geobaskets, they work as combat boots aswell in certain fits.

Is that tee purple? Would like to see another layer under the tee aswell.

Its really actually quite similar to my lazy city explorer fit. B/B geos, black denim, some layered tees or double layer, flecktarn and a black rucksack
>>
>>10668002
Yeah, definitely more of a boot feel from b/b and that's why I got them.

Checkout Rigards. They have a cool pair of prescription frames on ssense sale right now.

Also Yohji prescription frames are incredible. Hervia had a number but I think they are mostly sold out now.

Mykita is great of course, maybe a bit too techy at times.

I have a cote et ciel backpack I wear everyday. Pretty good construction, very minimal.

yeah i was looking at some of them, but I really want a different material than ballistic nylon. I've had high end packs before and while they're indestructible and perform well, I'm looking for something with an interesting finish that stands apart from what I've owned in the past.

the waxed eastpak i posted above is pretty much exactly what im looking for. I have a few months before I'd use it so hopefully one pops up on rakuten or something, but since chances are so slim I'll look into some leather packs as well.

How do creepers fit? I wear 42 CP, 43 MMM GATs, and 43 Guidi. Will sz 42 creepers fit me?

42 should be fine.

Tbh with glasses I wouldn't concentrate on getting a pair to fit an aesthetic, I would try and get a pair that suits me above anything else.
