I have this wool jacket from COS.
I live in Stockholm and have used it for 2 winters now. Never felt the need for anything warmer. Can ofter use it open too.
I would say that this winter will be pretty warm, with the global warming we wont see many more harsh winters like the 1990s.

Yes layers are good, imo the most important is to keep your head warm and hands warm. A good wool scarf and something that keep the ears from freezing.
I think most people do the mistake of getting their winter clothes on too early and not "warming" their bodys to the winter cold during the autum/early winter. And when the winter do hit they wont have any warmer clothes to put on.

If you have the money, go ahead and buy it then, I think it's nice. Dark green works well if you have a black or earth tone wardrobe. Wool is better choice, if it was anything but I wouldn't spend $100 on it. Nice thing is that it can be used in both summer with a light shirt, tshirt or blouse, and warmer-winter with pantyhose and a sweater or something.
