A loud varsity jacket isn't inherently ugly, you just need to choose pieces that compliment it correctly. Docs, slacks and a button up don't really match what looks like a faded maroon collared cotton thing with a ton of pressed badges.

I think lifting can slightly make longer clothes fit better, because as your shoulders, upper back and chest fill out, the jacket will also be carried higher and spread out more.
