I meant "ashy".
What I mean is that long dreads give the impression that the hair often unwashed. So then they assume the rest of the person is unhygienic.
But not all of the time though. My pic for example can work for a office and a street setting.

Im Half black and half white and had dreads for about 5 years. Went with the neglect method and they turned out pretty cool. Somehow managed to get a sort of sideswept bangs going on like an emo kid lol (this was when i was younger). Every fucking person around me loved them. I got really tired of people asking me questions about them so i got rid of them. Also had to deal with a lot of 420 stigma, even though i did not smoke. That sucked but i knew better.

Yeah I've been using the sponge for the past couple months and although it is kinda twisted at parts it's not looking exactly how I want them too.

The best looking dread I've ever seen were in two white girls. They looked clean as fuck and they were dressed in a quasi-formal way it looked pretty unique. But maybe because where I live most people who wear dreads are white 420BobMarley kids, so my standards for dreads are kind of low.
on black people they are great but on white people they are horrible, not just because of muh cultural appropriation but because the people who have them are invariably smelly eco warrior sjws. Plus theyre always trying to explain how dreads are "natural" for white people.
