I don't know too much about womens fashion though. I would suggest picking up some nice basics like some nice boots, nice grey jeans, a nice coat. slowly build up your wardrobe with some foundation pieces, some used basics, etc. it will take a while and lots of mistakes to come into a style of dress of your own

2) When you see an add you really really like, Google the brand
3) Find the general style that link all the thing you like, research the aesthetic
4) Buy your freacking basics in good shops

fashion in an artistic sense. Rick used to do it well, like those are actually beautiful jacket, pants and boots. it's a cool and unique runway look at shoes off some of his strengths as a designer.
