Mana and Mahad's existence is to literally showcase the Dark Magician's backstories. They are the same people.

As far as being a "monster" in the sense of being the subject of a "monster card", the term "monster" is only a generalization for simplicity's sake. Many of the depicted "monsters" are indeed meant to be "human" or at least "humanoid".

Literally directly controls her, its made even more clear in the manga where Mana is outright shown to be directly controlling her and speaking through DMG, whereas every other Ka was commanded. Everyone calls DMG Mana in the final arc at every single point she's referred to. DMG's lore in the cardgame itself is that she's Dark Magician's apprentice, he'll thats how she's debuted as:The Dark Magician's apprentice. Its made abundantly clear its Mana in Bonds Beyond Time where they basically talk like teacher and student, and summoned with a card called Bond Between Teacher and Student.
No one ever said Yu-gi-oh was consistent. Mana being DMG is one of the few consistencies it actually held on to all these years.
