I want to add chicken wire to the bottom of our garage side door to keep any animals out.

We are cleaning our garage and our side door that we are blocking with a shelf has a 3-4 inch gap on the bottom for safety (exhaust buildup, etc). We were given a roll of chicken wire and were told that we should attach it to the bottom of the door to keep any rats, possums, etc out.

But I'm in a bind as to how to do this because I'm a moron. Would I want to glue the wire to the door? Are there bolts to bolt it on? And would i just leave it hanging on the bottom, or would I need to attach it to the concrete somehow?

The door will remain closed and blocked off.

I would use some 1x2 strips to make a little box insert to fit under the door, you could screw it to the bottom of the door to secure it

secure some window screen to the frame with staples, then put chicken wire on top

I'm with the second anon in that chix wire doesn't work that well.

I'd go with hardware cloth.

OP, are you saying you will not be using the garage door ever? It will stay closed permanently?

Use 1/4" hole Hardware Cloth wire not, chicken wire. Chicken wire is the worst shit ever and rusts out inside of two years. Use screws with large washers to install it. If you are drilling into metal, use self-tapping screws.

If you are not going to use this door any longer i would suggest permanently enclosing it. It would be fairly inexpensive to hire a handyman to do it if you cannot yourself.

Hardware cloth will work. I'm using gutter screen to keep leaves from getting under my deck. Just cut to size and screw it. Maybe use some washers.

yeah its a garage side door (not the garage door you open to drive a car in)

we are going to have floor to ceiling shelves in front of it but need wire on the bottom to keep out animals
