A group of people and me really like building and shooting slingshots like this one. We mostly craft them from wood and metal. Do you have any ideas what (non-obvious) material or manufacturing technique we can also use?

some micarta could be pretty.

That actually sounds very good. Is there any way of fabricating similar material (with enough strength for a slingshot!) by oneself?

joergsprave on youtube is fairly entertaining.
Guess when it comes to materials its a case of cost vs effectiveness really, or if you're after a certain look. Both brass and aluminium are nice, easy materials to work with (just not together- they eat each other) and some tropical hardwoods look pretty nice when given a good polish.

Put some ground beef on it and that's the most manliest thing ever.

*it's the manliest thing ever.

If it shot bacon and whiskey bottles it might be the manliest slingshot ever
I'm wondering how powerful a pump-action crossbow/slingshot would be? Having a small magazine and quick cocking system seems handy, but they can't be very powerful if you can cock it with one hand, right? Here's a video Jörg made, but it doesn't go into too much detail about the damage it can do;

If it's good enough to kill pheasants and other small pests, I'll build one. But for home defense it's probably useless, right? I'm trying to think of a cranking system that could cock a stronger string...

Black pipe. 3 caps, 1 y, 2 45s, 3 lengths of pipe. It'll be heavy, good for when the dude you shoot comes to beat your ass, just dome him with it.

This would b a killer sling! xD

try HDPE (its a common type of household plastic) its easy to find, render, and mold.
