If it's stick on then it doesn't matter. Staggering is for added strength in wood joints.

Staggering is just for wood joints for floors, and even then it's not 100% necessary since there are plenty of joe-homeowner jobs still standing strong without staggered joints. As long as they're stuck down and you got them tight together it shouldn't affect anything.

well it's vinyl, so nothing bad will happen aside looking like shit.
only suggestion I have is painting a "decorative" grid pattern to cover seam lines.
can't really make it look worse.
