I made the mistake of buying this poo in the loo invention and I can't figure out how you're supposed to use it. The dovetail for the indicator is at the top but the piece at the top doesn't go any further down. Also if you take out that knurled pin at the side all pressure goes off the dovetail.

This must be missing some pieces right?
>>
What the fuck is it supposed to do?
>>
Is that rod smaller at the top or something? Hard to tell from that pic. If not, I can't figure out why it won't move further down, is it just too snug for your likely (given this is 4chan) limp noodle arms to manipulate properly? Sorry but it seems to be pretty strait forward to me.

I'm with this guy, OP. Wtf?

Plus he got dubs.

The rod at the top is clearly smaller, the dovetail part is resting on a shoulder. If I could unscrew the thing from the rectangle at the bottom I could throw it into the lathe and turn it down to the same diameter, but pajeet really stuck it in there. It seems to be threaded into both the top and the bottom of that rectangle which makes the thumb screw clamp on the side useless.

It's supposed to hold a dial test indicator so you can measure precision of your tools and work.

That's what I thought, sorry I was feeling pissy earlier. When you buy Pajeet, expect nothing more than poo. Live and learn...
>>
Not Noga masterrace, bad luck OP.
>>
lol what is the fucking problem here?
its prettybasic you put the dial in
the dove tail
the 5/32nd hole
the 3/8th hole
or on the lug nut at the front of the pic

First off, I will say that I don't have any of these styles of holders, as I've not ever found a situation where I needed one.
I tend to get the 2-section types that have more adjustment ranges.
Also I get the cheapo China ones. Nogas are nice but the cheapies work well enough for me.

Anyway... pic related.
The holder is shown on the left; a test indicator with a dovetail post adapter is shown on the right. The dovetail post adapter normally comes with the test indicator, not the stand.

1. If you loosen screw A, then the whole top part B should be adjustable up and down the rod's height. Tighten it where you need it....

2. Part C is the dovetail clamp, that will hold the dovetails that are on the back and top of test indicators (part G). Knob F should tighten the dovetail clamp if you hold part D stationary. (E shows that you can rotate part D when it is loose, if D is in the way of something)

3. To use the dovetail post adapter (part H) you place it on either of the dovetails (G) where you want it, and then you remove part D, and the round end of part H should fit into the same hole. Tighten knob F while holding the test indicator stationary.

part D is for styles that have a hole at the back to clamp it on the back face of like a plunger style indicator

the bottom one of for the 5/32nd shank adapter like part G, but instead of 3/8th its 5/32nds

If you guys read the other posts you'd see that part A doesn't go down because the rod has two different diameters.

Regardless I figured it out, part D actually fits into the hole at the base to make a 90 degree angle for sweeping and the hole it was occupying then fits over the main shaft. Pajeet isn't as stupid as he smells I guess, but man what a shit design.

The little nub of part D ended up being too big for any of my collets any ways so I took the dovetail mount off and used the thumb screw to tighten it on a 1/4" center drill. Then I took pieces off a clamp down style holder and put it into the hole part D was originally in to have a full working arm for a sweep.

I also bought a probably china made dial test indicator. The mechanism sticks unless you give it a good preload and I swear the bezel is warped at a 15 degree angle.

to hold your phone while watching youtube or porn ?

It looks like a magnetic base for a comparator or a scribe. May be one of those usen on true-flat tables to trace machining marks.

Glad you got it sorted OP.
