potassiumhydroxide in airvent

I was exploring an abandoned building earlier today, now there was a pump which seemed to inject potassiumhydroxide into the ventilation system. There were also big jerrycans filled with potassiumhydroxide. I couldnt seem to find anything online about this. Does anhbody know why they would do this?
Don't know why it would be hooked up into ventilation but I'd say meth since it's in an abandoned building.
Could be anything Op its a weak base compared to soda lye but could be meth also soap making or something for making + PH not lile youre. Jesse pinkman now bro

OP sometimes they run pipes inside air vents. or maybe you were not looking at an air vent at all but an access tunnel. anyway they use it for cleaning coils in HVAC systems.

I doubt they are tanning animal skin or making soap in an abandon building. It's mostly used for manufacturing methamphetamine

I don't know what all the fuss is about. Potassium Hydroxide is a really basic chemical.
