Anyone wrap stones here?
What are your favorite stones to wrap?
Favorite wire?
Things you're working on?
Here's a strip of Kyanite with a Peridot bead.
>>
this sounds like the most random hobby imaginable...
>>
>>935012
Go back to 420chan or some power crystal forum.
>>
>>935012
Why would you want to wrap a stone in wire?
>>
>>935475
He's making stoner and white trash vape kid jewelry. That's why. Also some retards believe quartz crystals and other things grant special powers and bring balance to life
>>
Without trying to be insulting, that looks bloody awful. Try using a nice polished stone and get the wrapping neater.

I was producing better stuff out of a tumbler when I was 12 and that was over 40 years ago.
>>
>>935012
what the fuck
why
>>
not OP. Stone wrapping is basically for non-commercial looking jewelry, and for crystal power believers.

You've put too many bends in your wire, less is more unless you're doing swirls and stuff.
>>
I think you've wrapped it perfectly
>>
>>935012
Learn to do it with twine or upholstery thread instead of ugly ass wire. Market it to crystalplebs by saying that the metal interferes with the crystal's vibrations. It'll look better and you'll make a killing.

That looks pretty good.

That's awesome

Guitar string?

That one is acceptable at least

mean age of a /diy/ user is probably around 40, and most have a background in n honest-to-god craft like welding, carpentry, beeing a dad or other stuff that makes your hands big as plates and your grip vice-like.
(btw. I aspire to beeing like you guys)

These are no hands made for wire twisting.
It's a cool thing but you would probably be beter off on /fa/ or smth.

I can post more of my shit later if anybody gives a fuck.

That's sterling silver and gold filled wire.
>>
Gonna post sum wire porn unless anyone wants to see more of my work.
>>
>>
>>935012
hey op. not too bad. However, as someone already mentioned, I would use a nicer looking stone, and I thing you rushed the neck/loop stem part.

The rest is basic, but pretty neat.

I can appreciate that some of these are actually very beautiful, but I've never found myself with so little to do that I just twisted wire together for the sake of twisting wire together. Making art implies that you did it yourself (at least, it used to), but I wouldn't call making art "DIY."

This is one of those weird things that look like it takes a lot of time and skill but it still looks tacky as fuck
Same with glass blowing sculpture

holy shit it looks like a centipede

That makes my hand hurt just looking at it. I can hardly wear a normal ring for very long without irritation and discomfort...

A lot of the stuff you posted looks like a hot mess to me but THIS one is amazing.

>>935800
Did you... Bend an allen wrench into that?

Yip that was my thought. OP is Edward Sissyhands. I suspect polished smooth using a game controller and using Doritos grease as a polishing compound.

Why would you make this garbage

Also, got any ketamine, mane?

I dig these my dude. Some people don't appreciate the joy of a hobby like this. Keep em coming

This is neat. Sell them to audiophiles as anti-ambiance stones for hanging on raised cables. you could sell them for $200 each

the magnetic/electrical effects of quartz are well documented. Never seen a watch with the word quartz on it? You think it's only quartz that has these properties, or do you think that simply because quartz is so common?

>Chemically, quartz is a compound called silicon dioxide. Many materials can be formed into plates that will resonate. However, quartz is also a piezoelectric material: that is, when a quartz crystal is subject to mechanical stress, such as bending, it accumulates electrical charge across some planes. In a reverse effect, if charges are placed across the crystal plane, quartz crystals will bend. Since quartz can be directly driven (to flex) by an electric signal, no additional speaker or microphone is required to use it in a resonator. Similar crystals are used in low-end phonograph cartridges: The movement of the stylus (needle) flexes a quartz crystal, which produces a small voltage, which is amplified and played through speakers. Quartz microphones are still available, though not common.

I feel bad for you that you are truly this retarded and believe in magical energy and that magnetism has any effect on your personal life.

Years back, I had a small piece of unmounted Moldavite but some fucker stole it when I had a kegger party.

Didn't notice any loss of special powers or difference in life balance after it was gone.

Cool JO crystal OP.

Looks like what you'd get if Giger was commissioned to design jewellery for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

>it accumulates electrical charge across some planes

Yeah... nah.
>>
>>942699
>Yeah... nah.

Uh...yah. That's exactly how the piezoelectric effect works.

Not to say that crystals do anything other than look cool, but that one bit is correct.
>>
>>942706
Yep. That's why we use crystals in digital circuits. Applying an electric current causes them to vibrate at a specific frequency.
>>
>>942699
It means plane as in flat zone of the crystal, not as in astral plane or some gay shit like that

up close it looks pretty cool, from normal conversation distance people wonder what you're doing with your grandmas brooch.
