Do you do it? What tools to do use? Whar do you use your sharps for?

I've been flint napping for 3 years and I just started a foray into indirect percussion glass blades. I use my blades for skinning and as inconspicuous backup knives.

Stone knapping has been a meme for at least 3.3 million years and Humans weren't even the first ones to start it. We are like the newfags of evolution spouting oldfag memes every time we do flint knapping. Of course we are shit at it and if the oldfags were still around it'd piss them off to no end.

its more to do with the type of rocks. most australian aborigines never learnt to knap for example. wrong kind of stone here. you need very fine grained glass or soft fine grained stone. otherwise your options are limited.

The flattened copper elbow is my flaker; I try to keep it in my condom pocket at all times, and I pair it with something like one of the small blades, which usually is not larger than an inch in total length and usually contains edges suitable for scraping and slicing tasks. Since I can fit both a copper and a blade in my little pocket, I usually forget that I'm carrying a sharp edge until I find myself in a situation where I could use a knife, in which case I feel quite a bit of relief knowing that I have both an edge and a sharpening kit with me.

Top: an ugly glass biface I made using indirect percussion on the copper below. I am not a huge fan of glass for edc, as it is not particularly durable. My flint edc blades however stand up to use almost as well as steel during normal use, and are relatively easy to sharpen and repair in comparison. I usually carry glass on hunting trips for processing game
