I have a bare pendrive, wish to make a concrete case for it because i love that grey stuff. To my understanding concrete is somewhat conductive. How do i insulate it cheaply? I think duct tape is out of question because the wet solution may get under it.
>>
try mylar
>>
heatshrink. dunno how well concrete will stick to that tho..
>>
you can always mixup some epoxy to make a "bare" looking insulated drive just put it on a piece of milk carton and "pop"it out once dried
>>
>>929617
Epoxy, dip that drive in to epoxy. Cast the concrete over it.
>>
>>929617
Pot it in epoxy first, or use a thick conformal coating.
>>
I'd be a bit worried about the weight of the concrete bending it.
>>
>>929617
liquid electric tape
>>
>>929617
Remember, concrete shrinks over time. Be mindful of that.

Or silicone it

Concrete is corrody and chippy. Use JB Weld which is gray, then texture it or roll in sand for the look you want. It's all about looks.
>>

But i like concrete
>>
>>931638
Then it is project fail.

You have to adapt. The concrete is not going to work due to shrinkage. It is just that simple.
>>
>>932013
Unless he uses silicone instead of epoxy, which will allow for shrinkage, though that would imply shrinkage is the main problem at this scale.

My concern would simply be fractures due to dropping or other mishandling, concrete (or more accurately, cement, unless OP is planning on mixing gravel and sand into his shell) that thin might be kind of brittle. It may be possible to fold a thin strip of flyscreen around the stick (over the silicone) to act as reinforcement. Even if the cement cracks it won't fall apart.
>>
>>931638
then use fucking concrete and ruin your pendrive, always a delusional persons in /diy/
do it as you want then.
>>
>>932062
> getting this mad about the actions of others.

Life must be hard for you kiddo.
>>
>>931638
I would use low-shrink grout or CSA cement (rather than your typical portland cement which is corrosive and will shrink).
>>
>>929617
test on a cheap drive, dip in wax, pour concrete and see how it turns out if it shrinks or not
>>
Try some plaster of Paris. That shit feels like lightweight marble, sandable, and you can ale the color . but generates heat as it sets, but it's short lived and I dint you wild notice any issues with shrinkage. Keep your dick/dickbeaters away from that stuff though... It's not the kind of material for casting body parts.
>>
I'd make a concrete case and shove the flash drive in there. no need to worry about conductivity or shrinkage.

I like the way you think.
>>
I'd probably heat shrink that shit, wrap that in rubber tape, then coat that in liquid electrical tape. I'm pretty paranoid though.
>>
>because covering an already-insulated fucking $3 pen drive in fucking concrete would be too easy.
>has to be OPs special snowflake uncovered 3-fucking-dollar pen drive that gets covered in concrete
>how do I cover my uncovered pendrive, so I can cover it in fucking concrete?
>b-but I want *THIS* fucking *uncovered* pendrive, but cobbered in stuffz, then cobbered in concretz, for fuck almighty alone knows why, it has all my stuffz on it..
- Jesus Fucking Wept. Gimme your address bro, send you an industrial roll of shrinkwrap+disposable lighter. Time your done applying that shit, your pendrive survive a Jimmy Hoffa scale application of fucking concrete.
>>
>>932388
Will you still be this mad by the time he's done or will it take longer for your little tantrum to run its course?
>>
Thank you for all your suggestions, i went with generous amount of a regular plastic wrap and some strong cement. I think you call it Portland cement in the states. Day three, no shrinkage. Not counting limp dicks of some of the memers here of course.

Btw i found it in some box, it's not like i bought a new fucking flash drive to disassemble you absolute autist.
