remove the film underneath and there is adhesive.
stick the plate on and its more solid, as these are modular, the can be taken apart.

electrical shielding kinda like a ground plane on pcbs, but it turns all the traces into little capacitors with the plate

Solder a wire to it with a jumper and use it as a ground plane when necessary. It's probably more useful if you're breadboarding audio stuff.
