How do you collect your dust in your workshop?

I've been considering buying one. Also considered building a 'cyclone' separator using the thein baffle method.

I stick a shop vac inlet near whatever's making dust. Literally all you need.

Not really all you need when you have a table saw, spindle moulder and planer thicknesser going. Three vacs would cost enough to pay for a decent extractor.

Here's how I do it.

A cyclone separator is definitely a good investment.

I use a broom.

No, really. I do. Not worth an expensive vacuum setup to save me 5 mins of work a day.

Protip: An iron lung doesn't help with respiratory issues where the problem is caused by damage to the lung. They were used for people who had paralysis of the chest or diaphragm (commonly caused by Polio). These days we'd just use positive pressure ventilation.

Try pic. related.

I had a great uncle who spent like 5 years in an iron lung from Polio before he died of an infection. Some people spent 60 years in them. Could you imagine that?

Dust masks are a thing, yo.

if i could find a picture of a pedant i would post one for you anon.

Imagine having to wait for the right point in the cycle to speak.

Yeah I've got vacs that just aren't working as well as they should because I haven't used a separator before.

I wondered if it would make sense to have bucket cyclones or even baffle separators after every piece of machinery and have one chip extractor which would run quieter and more efficiently.

You either don't do alot to make real considerable dust or you're just going to end up fucked.

I wear P3 facefit respirators whenever I'm working. It's not just my lungs I have to consider. It's my family and neighbours, not to mention the mess that's caused.

Slow Accordion.
