Made a few books. Figured I'd share the process.
Started off by marking the halfway point down the stack.
Cut into halfs
Because I wasn't able to get it cut perfectly in half every time, I sorted the pages I had into 3 general sizes
When one of the stacks was roughly the size of a book, I put the shortest page in front and marked every half inch a little bit from the edge.
Lined up one edge
Clamped the other
Drilled holes where I marked
Sewed the pages together
Picked leather big enough to cover the pages
Glued a piece around the spine to help keep things together
Glued the first and last page to the cover
Return of the clamps
Glue's dry and the leather's trimmed

What are you planning on putting in the books?
Are you going to write in them or just let them sit?

This one is a gift for a friend. I've two more to make as gifts, then I plan on selling some on etsy or something
What paper do you use?

Seems like you'd be better off trimming the leather to shape before gluing it, you'd probably have smoother results

And use a brush to apply the glue...

it's nice for a first time out
I would have glued what what have soon been the spine a few times over so the binding isn't strictly just the thread which seems to be a problem with most books
