I got a sewing machine from another person, the problem is the needle bar is shifted backwards and the needle hits the top cover of the feeding dogs
Anyone has an idea why this is happening and how to fix it?
btw the sewing machine is a singer 9836c

yep, a new needle but with any of them its the same, in fact the needle bar is aligned with the bar for the presser foot, so its not a needle problem or so it seems

Have you considered it's been dropped and the upper assembly (arm) has been shifted in relation to the lower assembly (table)?
