What would /diy/ do with a broken laptop which has a fried motherboard and GPU? The rest (the screen, RAM, etc.) is intact.

Scrap it for what it worth and use the working parts to help build a new one.

Remove battery cells to sell or use for whatever. Maybe practice soldering too.

It's toast. Remove as many components as you can, scrape off any gold on what's left if you're a poorfag, and toss the shell.

buy an "hdmi/dvi to lvds" thingamajig of ebay and use the screen as a second/extended monitor for your desktop
sell as many of the remaining functioning component as you can on ebay (keyboards and ram usually get sold fast if price is cheap)
trash the remaining carcass
