I've always found it weird that artists feel the need to make them actual Nazis. I mean, you can be authoritarian without being a Nazi. The uniform and a symbol. Theres infinite possible designs for a fictional authoritarian military/governing group. But they feel the need to make them actually Nazis. Just comes across as so edgy when you could just as easily make something original. It's like they're going out of their way to be "LOL2EDGY".

Take OP's image for example. All it would take for this image would be to change the swaztika to a different symbol, really. I find it hard to get into the mindset of someone who, lets imagine, has drawn this entire image, and left the armband to last.
So they're sitting there and thinking "well I mean it's pretty much a Nazi, but it's not 100% definitely a Nazi unless i put a swaztika on the arm band. I mean I could make it original, something of my own. As for why explicitly nazi seems to be more popular than implicitly nazi or even just uniformed... I think it has several dimensions. First is the dimension of purity.
