Having them be characters from anime/games detracts from the fap factor more often than it does not. The situation is what's important but using actual characters with actual setting rules places some unnecessary imaginative restrictions (and if you don't follow the source material whatsoever then they might as well be original characters by this point).

Basically though, for pictures, as long as it's drawn well, I don't care. Written stories are a bit harder though, like that Ace Attorney size interactive. It was about college shrinking, which you don't find as often on writing.com. Now I log on to find all of my chapters deleted. It's a good thing I backed up what I wrote.
