I just got an email that my panel on Monster Girls was accepted to a local anime convention. I have a presentation in progress, but I'd love to run my ideas past /d/eviants to see what people would mostly likely want to get out of a panel on a porn trend. So far I kinda have my sections like:
I. Historical context: How monsters have been sexualized forever, Greek sirens and transforming Kitsune, all the way up through paranormal romance novels being crazy popular
II. Types and Archtypes, Some slides showing most popular types of monster girls and how they often rely on other ecchi tropes (Harpy being petite, centaurs being milfy, etc.) This part is really influenced by Okayado and monster girl encyclopedia stuff, I'm wondering if it's too basic
III. Monster Girls in Pop Culture, talking about games like Monster Girl Quest, the popularity of the 30 day Monster Girl art challenge, and finally a list of anime featuring monster girls (I'd love to add to this list if you have suggestions.)
I'm trying not to seem like a filthy casual but appeal to people going to a convention. I just really like monster girls....

I think your strongest points can come from the past, regarding mythos and such. That alone can kinda normalize the idea of people enjoying such wondrous creatures. You can also go to pre-Noah's Ark and talk about how there were a lot of half-human hybrids.

Especially when you look at the fact that western demons (succubi, imps, devils ect) that fall under the umbrella of "demon" in todays porn was originally just depictions of people-animal hybrids.
This would normally fall under the "That doesn't count/matter fagget" reply, BUT demon porn STILL uses these elements both in western AND Eastern depictions of the characture. Therefore "Demongirls" falls under the monstergirl catagory.
It's like arguing that Centurs and Harpies are seperate from monstergirls.
