Different reasons, not all of them mine, but stuff for you to consider for why robots would be appealing:
1. Nothing holds you back. It's a machine. It varies in different works in fictions but in many they're made in some way that makes sex with them conscience-free. Maybe they're made to love to fuck without judging one's fetishes, maybe they have no emotions, maybe they're not truly sentient, just simulating sentience - a glorified sextoy. 3. Programmable/control. Provided it's man-made, you choose what it thinks and why or it may be hardwired to perform certain functions, always reliable.
4. No human shortcomings. Reliability was mentioned but there are also other issues it avoids. Robot will never have a headache or - in case of the less "humanized" ones - be not in mood. If given some goal it will follow it. Not susceptible to disease, resistant to wear and tear usually more than human flesh (though requiring serious maintenance once damage does happen due to the lack of healing factor in the settings where nanotechnology or whatever isn't common).
Again, lots of it may change depending on personal preferences or the setting. Rates of unwanted pregnancies would probably also go down.
No flaunting around or stumbling upon cheap sluts/gold diggers/players since anyone would be able to get physically attractive sexual partner - personality and other such factors would probably play bigger role in establishing relationships and good looks would be only a side perk. Cases of rape would probably plummet - probably not disappear completely as there are sadistic assholes who get off on genuine fear and suffering, but it'd work for many cases of rape by just horny, desperate (and weak-willed) people or ones having certain preferences/kinks that make it hard for them to find willing partners.
There'd be risks like making sex stop being really alluring, disassociating it with romantic feelings for some since it'd be common rather than something most people share with loved ones and overall it'd probably corrupt modern perception and standards for sex. Still, otherwise a change for the better.
Also, I think it'd be hot to simply go to some shop and choose a fantasy lover's looks, customizable personality and physical traits.
