2) To-Love Ru wannabes in which the initial GB is just an excuse to spur on ecchi scenes and yuri manga-tier forced drama
Instead Rouga's work has organic stories, plotlines that leave you satisfied both as standalone works and as a continued read (something that's essential to being a good doujin artist), and (this is only my preference though) that distinctive 90-00s style that many have abandoned.
I love his stuff and my only complaint is that he releases way too little. We need less people cranking out 'quick-fap' works, and more people like Ruuen Rouga releasing works that actually feel like manga with sex in them, not just cheap masturbatory material.

That's hilarious, because of all the people he could sue he chose the ones that are not doing anything illegal.
A translator doesn't upload anything. A client gives them material (which the translator has no way of knowing, nor the resposibility to verify, if it was legally bought), they translate it, and then give the client a script.
The end.
There is absolutely no legal ground to stand to sue independent translators.

fyi all unauthorized scanlations are illegal but that also means nothing. the only thing that matters is if the publishing company is going to do something about it. if the manga isn't going to be distributed in your country then probably not and nothing will come of it.

The point is, translation is not itself an illegal activity. If I can read Japanese, and someone asks me to translate the text in a doujin they buy, there is no law that prevents me from doing so. Hell, I could also legally obtain a copy and edit the text myself to make an English version, and have no issues with copyright law.
HOWEVER, should I then distribute that translated doujin, I would then be in violation, for it is not legal to distribute that product without authorization from the copyright holder.
Translating and editing are not illegal. It's DISTRIBUTION that copyright laws work on.
