Well, by pure mimic I just mean a chest with teeth. Even on sexual image sites like Gelbooru and stuff, there's a ton of those kinds of mimics.
And that's just on sexual image sites! Google and dA has even more.

On Gelbooru I see a paltry 55 images for 'Mimic Chest' and I'd say 90% of them are the 'girl in box' variety, and it's not particularly interesting design wise for most of them.
So clearly we diverge on what constitutes 'tons of art.'
