Hello again, fellow /d/eviants! It's once again time to configure your team for 4chan's inter-board virtual soccer cup! Originally, I had planned on letting the last poll ride for the entire autumn-winter cycle, but due to recent events it seems only prudent to give everyone the option to change the team up once again!
Link to the Poll: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1dzpwU0ItFtTgf9NcXPsMumU7W1TBP7lj4D1q5r5tqTg/viewform
And, as always, to make this a thread useful to non-cup watchers, let's get some good old fashioned captivity/public use thread!
And this should be enough to get the thread rolling!
Here's a small bump for you.

Hang on, is that the official cup poll?
>>6579083
Yeah.
/d/ never gets a fucking break in 4cc - futa/alternative always manages to fuck it up despite consistently looking like she should be causing goalocausts. If my memory serves the area /d/ keeps suffering in is a fairly meh-tier midfield as we give up possession (and in turn, don't give good possession to our strikers).
Alas I know exactly fuck all about how PES works so I can't help in how to actually fix this.

The reason the midfield is weak is because it's mostly meant to move the ball foward or assist the defenders. For the most part, the team is set up so that, while it'll triangle play in the backfield a bit, once it spots it's opportunity it'll flash the ball up quick to the front players. On defense, it's mostly up to the defenders to hawk the attacker with the ball until he coughs it up to begin the process above.
It's not the most elegant method, but it DID give us a lead in every game we played in Autumn, and put/kept us in every single game (Except maybe the /k/ game).
Then again, it's foolish to go into the elites with the same battle plan you brought against babbies, so don't think I'm not running some R&D on it.
Still can't fix the GKs though. Fug :DD

Its good to hear there is some testing going on - /d/ as a team has felt somewhat stuck in a rut. We always flip-flop around the babbies and low level elites but group stages tend to be rough to pass. After that lol headstomping cya next year.
>>6579197
Yeah, it's rough both as a manager and a fan. I just like to tell myself it's a process, and we've gone from a permababby to a yo-yo team, so we're still making foward progress. Sometimes these things take a while, but eventually we'll find the key to break through into the elite knockouts.

Idk our formation, but a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-4(diamond)-2 can help with midfield control. the 4-2-3-1 also has good wing outlets to get the ball up and provide offensive pressure.
Just a thought, i play soccer but not PES, so idk if there are any major differences..
bumpin
Ever since that webm of /pol/'s team I've wanted to see a real cup. When does this happen and how can I watch?
>>6579586
The real cups happen once a season (roughly). The next one is an elite cup, the Winter Cup in February. There's a general on /vg/ (search /4ccg/), and a wiki (google implynigrigged) if you wanna keep track of those as well.
>>6579559
I'll look into those. I tend to favor the narrow diamond 442, but it's never too good to rely on one thing all the time.
Also, as a general warning: The verification questions at the end aren't marked as required because of how they're set up, but they ARE necessary to answer. Not all of them, mind you, but just enough to pass verification. Several people have neglected to answer them and this WILL result in your vote being thrown out. If you did this, the form is open to editing, so please go back and complete the verification. Thanks again!

The main downside of the 4-4-2 is against teams who play the width, because you end up stretching out the diamond. If you like the diamond center, a 4-3-2-1 is also good choice for covering the width
At the end of the day though, u gotta go with what's comfortable.

There's not a whole lot of teams that run wingers currently, so while that is a concern, I don't think it's a huge one as it'd still be AMF/CMF vs AMF/CMF situations, so they'd be on roughly the same competitive level. I've thought about using a bench player or two as R/LMFs, but if they're in poor condition in a match where they'd be useful then it'd just end up being a waste of a roster spot.
The 4-3-2-1 sounds alright, though since we tend to have two medal fowards it'd be more like a 4-3-1-2. Which I don't think is too bad, either way.
By the way, not to try and pressure people into it or anything, but since there seems to be a few people here with tactical knowledge, I may as well throw it out there: if anyone's interested in being a tester for the team, don't be afraid to hit me up. It's a good chance to learn more about PES if you're interested in going on to manage yourself, after all! My contact info's on the Contact page on the Wiki.
