The way I see it is that doujin writers fall into a basic trap by following a formula. Boy and girl get together, sex is implied, suddenly boy turns into girl. Well shit, what do we do now? The author wants to draw straight sex but there's a problematic lack of dicks involved. Solution? Immediately give the guy back his dick along with the female body, or give the girl a dick instead (usually without otherwise changing her appearance).
The rare alternative is that the girl is changed completely into a guy, or the story starts with a guy and "his friend" who instantly turns around and rapes him the moment he has a chance.
