The Beyonder, bored with the current state of affairs in the universe decided to visit Earth and disguise himself as a human. He took the name Joshua and attended high school in New York. There he befriended a fellow high schooler with an after school job.
One day he was asked to help lay some bricks in the lab. The Beyonder disguised as Joshua was delighted to help his newfound friend, but enthusiasm soon turned to disaster. Joshua was asked to fetch some more cement. The Beyonder had no idea what cement was and thought the crude binding techinique was far too primitive to be true, so he improved the formula with unknown alien matter. The powerful and unstable binding agent led to the wall tumbling down, creating The Wicked Wall.
The Beyonder went to a baseball game to reflect on the events. And in a split second of remorse he gave up his powers, just for a moment. And in that moment he felt the powerful thud of a hundred bricks ramming into him, knocking him unconscious.
He woke up later, relieved that his friend the happy boy, was found on a bench with Spider-Man and told them with his cosmic knowledge that the Mets won the game.

God Doom in a parallel continuity of Secret Wars replaces the Thing's role as the wall with The Wall. The Wall becomes a cosmic abstract representing the limit of all things. A sort of source wall, where he is the last thing between the realms of fiction and us, the creators.
He is "The Wall" and it is he who bars the way to all things within the continuum of all fictionality, including the Beyonder.
