I much preferred Wolverine before the power-creep made him virtually immortal.
Back when Byrne was still drawing Uncanny X-Men, Wolverine's healing factor made him especially hardy, but not unkillable. Made for much more narrative tension back in the day.

Yeah, IIRC the comic's title on the cover becomes "The Savage Namor the Sub-Mariner" around issue #25 or thereabouts, although the official title (as per the indicia) remained "Namor the Sub-Mariner."
