I have seen it said that Lauren Faust should have gone to idw over her frustrations with creative control of mlp as there complete lack of any sort of oversight would suit her.

Idws pony comics are notorious for the writers getting absolute free reign.
There's a reason they have so many legendarily bad stories while still having what I believe to be the best single issue I have ever read.
