It improved Darth Vader. In Legends he was slow and weakass. The new canon has made Vader as physically capable as he was before his prosthesis and rightfully far more powerful given he's a construct of the force. It's possibly debatable now that he is/was one of the most powerful Sith Lords and force weilders to have ever lived.
But yeah. To anyone who isn't a main film protagonist or Darth Sidious, he's an unstoppable nightmare. There is no chance of victory against him.

Oh yeah. He's still heavy as fuck. But you also have to take into account his own natural parts compensating, and boosts from the force (not unlike how he did before the prostheses).

Not anymore. All of it connects directly to his nervous system. Once the helmet goes on and completes the connection, the suit, the prosthetics feel as much apart of him as his own organic parts. Though out of the helmet, yes, he feels the nubs of his limbs and everything. And he uses that pain to feed his anger, that to fuel his hate, and all of that to deepen his connection to the force.

I highly recommend checking out Darth Vader and the Lost Command and Darth Vader and the Ghost Prison. I've yet to read the Ninth Assassin yet, but I'd imagine it's following the same principle.

That's really the best answer. Lucas never really considered the EU as being canonical but was content to let it fill in gaps he wasn't (yet) interested in filling with his own stories. That hardly means he didn't see certain merits or mind using certain elements here and there, but he was never going to let the EU stand in the way of telling the story the way he wanted to. He was a kind but stern father of Star Wars. Capable of patting his children on the head and showing them favor, but they still damn well did what he told them to.

Yeah, there's some weird cases where a character dies in one place but is alive in another. The go-to solution to that was usually "well that was a clone." At one point there were two separate Greedos. A clone (as in Jango clone) named Spar ended up becoming a living retcon, all to explain a variety of inconsistencies in Boba Fett's history- now a significant number of his appearances weren't actually Boba, they were Spar pretending to be Boba.
My absolute favorite though is Dooku's Force doppelganger, an explanation made to a fix a problem that didn't even exist. A video game lets you kill Dooku at the end, and rather than just say "well, it's a game, Dooku obviously didn't die there" they instead decide went with "dark side duplicate", which raises a shitload more questions and creates an even bigger conundrum than just saying "hey that didn't really happen."

R2-D2 is the biggest fucking Mary Sue in Star Wars canon. He was okay in the OT, but he just got worse and worse as he made more appearances. Even in Episode 7, a film that he's only in for 45 seconds, he manages to have the biggest plot device of the movie up his ass and solves everyone's problem. He's at the scene of every major event in the saga. He's snarky, funny, smart, and everyone likes him. He's better than every single other astromech unit ever shown. He has not ever been out performed. He's beaten battle droids and other fighters in close combat. He's never wrong. He always has a way out of a situation. He's saved the main heroes time and time again. In a series allegedly full of Mary Sues, R2-D2 is by far the worst and the only one without a single flaw. Ever since that little shit dragged my head through the sand in Episode 2 he's been an unbearable little shit and the droid episodes in TCW are unwatchable because of it.
Fuck R2-D2. Lucas's biggest mistake.

Lucasarts definitely had been struggling for a long time. Not sure about TCWs, though. They seemed to be moving plenty of merch and certainly weren't shy on ratings. Not to mention since Lucas owned everything himself, being very hesitant to sell any aspect of his babies since his first deal with Fox to get ANH completed, it was ALWAYS his money. Lucasfilms money was his. He had a board of directors, but that's pretty standard business. He certainly didn't need investors, he had more than enough cash for anything he wanted.
The real kicker is that TCWs was the BIGGEST project they'd been working on outside of things like Crystal Skull, and it was certainly the biggest action with Star Wars. Once Disney bought it out they weren't going to foot the bill for a cartoon series that was as high as it was when they instead wanted to direct the money into making their sequel flicks. It was all part of a massive reorganization and shift in focus and resources.

Yeah but it's not actually that important. Let's go over the list:
Episode I: The Naboo Crew make a pitstop there because it's so unimportant that the Trade Federation will never look for them there. They meet some kid, win a race, fix their ship, and are happy to never go there again.
Episode II: Anakin goes there for the very personal reason to check up on his mom. She's dead, so he gets the fuck off that sandy shithole and never goes back again.
Episode III: Luke and Ben hide out there because it's so unimportant the Empire won't bother with it. Same deal with Yoda and Dagobah.
Episode IV: Arguably the most important here, as the Rebels go there to send an important document to an important person, but other than that it's just the place where our main character can't wait to leave.
Episode VI: Han's been kidnapped by some small-time drug lord so the main characters go there for the very personal reason of getting their friend as far away from that Middle-East-as-a-whole-fucking-planet-except-there's-no-oil and never, ever think about it again.

We still in total spend an assload of time on Tatooine between the five movies, way more time than we have ever had any right to do. Tatooine is fucking boring, and I wish the Skywalker family could have originated somewhere else, somewhere more interesting. The only single planet we spend more time on than Tatooine is Coruscant, and at least Coruscant is a huge fucking city with lots of neat architecture and districts and supporting characters.
If we never see Tatooine again it will be too soon, and if Jakku is the new Tatooine I'll set my TFA Blu-Ray on fire. Fuck that.

It's weird, really. I mean capturing Jabba was apparently the key for Maul gaining the allegiance of the Hutt Clans. Jabba was also a major target in the blackmailing of the Hutt Clans by Ziro, and it was Jabba who had to bail his ass out.
Despite this Jabba has chosen a relatively small palace on a DESERT planet, with two freaking suns! This despite Hutts hating to dry out. His guards are also pretty damn weak, though his stable of bounty hunters can make up for them in a pinch.
For whatever reason Tatooine is pretty important to the Hutts since we've seen multiple Hutts on the planet. Gardulla apparently wasn't just there for the race since she used to own the Skywalkers.

It's my theory that Jabba's Palace on Tatooine was just his summer palace. It's the palace he started out with when he was small time and has a fondness to it so while he has a huge pleasure palace on Nal Hutta, he still occasionally goes to Tatooine to check up on operations and for nostalgia.

That's why it's important to check the contract carefully when you get suckered into one of those "buy your own summer palace!" seminars. The brochure talked about all the lovely beaches the planet has, never once mentioned the lack of a fucking ocean. My idea was that Plagueis really did become a force god in some way which created Anakin to destroy the jedi but in very quick succesion he would get a vision that Anakin would eventually destroy the Sith, then he would learn about the force trees and Sheev would attempt an assassination.
