"Muslim Golden Age" was an actually chill time for them with a focus on science and and a pretty tolerant regime of compared to their Christian neighbors. The early Moors were pretty much the poster child of this who allowed the local population to keep their traditions and customs as long as they remembered who was in charge, though this and future leaders who tried to change these policies led to their downfall.
