events are everything wrong with mainstream superhero comics. Just wiki them to brush up on the status quo changes that get reset every six months
If you actually want to get into DC comics, you should check out /co/mrade recs on tumblr for various characters that interest you
there are very few events besides the original crisis that are above mediocre
