There's a certain chunk of the British Left that never got over the idea that Thatcher was about to seize dictatorial power and put them all into camps (see: A Very British Coup or Moore's own V For Vendetta for details).
Moore has seen everything he valued and fought for thrown away not only by his political comrades (who are now far more globalist than socialist) but by wider British society as a whole which has swung first to the Blairites, then to the Tories and finally UKIP rather than the glorious Revolution of the People he hoped for.
