Welcome back, Anons. Time for a big one!
>>
>>84365543
This is going to be the biggest storytime yet, at eight issues!
>>
And we start in a horror movie.
Great start.
>>
>"He's looked better."
Wow, that guy is jaded as fuck.
>>
>Tom
>Harry

So presumably that makes this guy "Dick."
>>
>>84365638
I'm guessing this happens a lot at Pegasus.
>>
You know exactly who Bruce Lee is, Danny.
>>
>>84365598
Project Pegasus power failures seem like a potential BAD THING. Don't they have some dangerous shit locked up there?
>>
>>84365682
Eh, they've got Quasar on the c-
Oh wait he's in space, isn't he?
>>
>>84365675
He's just being smug.
>>
>>84365598
>eight issues!

I feel strongly that I am probably not going to last long enough to get that far in, but I'll catch up tomorrow.
>>
>>84365726
I was originally going to do just 6, but that sixth issue is right in the middle of an arc, and I couldn't leave you Anons on a cliffhanger like that.
>>
Remember when Falcon used to be a pimp?
>>
>>84365705
>Oh wait he's in space, isn't he?

>1985
Not yet, no, I don't think. His solo book doesn't start until, like 1990? And before that he was pretty Earthbound.
>>
>>84365543
This cover is pretty.
>>
>>84365793
So was that before he was supposed to be dealing with this nonsense?
>>
>>84365786
>Remember when Falcon used to be a pimp?

That was a stupid retcon, and honestly I think it makes him more Blaxploitation than Luke, who was just a street tough before the heroin frameup.

Sam Wilson, Social Worker was a much better foundation, and there's a reason the movies went with "veteran turned veteran's social worker"
>>
Oh wow, look at this freaking costume.
>>
>>84365836
Yes, but it was published so it's fair game for me to make fun of it.
>>
>>84365838
It's just a Guardsman armor, dude.
That's a Security Guard Uniform in the Marvel 80s. Stuck around as long as the Vault did, even after Iron Man tried to destroy them for violating his IP.
>>
>>84365872
Can you tell I'm still relatively new to this hobby, considering I'm doing this madness?
>>
>>
>>84365867
True enough.

The Flying Pimp deserves to be mocked.
>>
So is Redwing still a vampire?
>>
>>84365902
Who thought that was a good idea? And why?
>>
>>84365902
A flying pimp sounds like someone who should've fought Luke back before he was Power Man.
>>
>>84365921
Steve Englehart, apparently.
>>
>>84365905
Yes. Also more popular than Sam last I checked.
>>
>>
>>84365936
In-universe, or out? Because I'd believe both, actually.
>>
>>
>>84365921
Apparently Steve Englehart. In an elaborate Red Skull Cosmic Cube plot. Possibly to make him hipper for the kids into all the other Pimp heavy 70s media, like Starsky and Hutch.

>>
>>
>>
>>84365969
DANIEL RAND-KAI: TOO PURE FOR THIS EARTH.
>>
>>84366041
Its offically cnon now.
>>
>>84365979

That so much that stuff (and how it got fixed) is playing into current HYDRA Cap is endless hilarious
>>
Canon, darn.
>>
Did this guy have a Jewfro last time?
>>
>>
>>84365905
>Mean Joe Jackson?
Wasn't he Bad Ned in the last issue?
>>
>"Some say he's the best there is."
"Because fuck that Shang-Chi guy"
>>
>>84366133
Yes. Yes he was. Even back in the golden age of Jim Shooter, editorial still had some things slip through.
>>
>>84365979
I don't remember many pimps in Starsky and Hutch, honestly.
>>
>>84366166
You don't remember Huggy Bear, Anon?
>>
Luke Cage: Hates children and cameras.
>>
>>84366095
I don't really care enough to remember.
>>
>>
>>84366176
Huggy Bear wasn't a pimp.
>>
Wow, prick.
>>
>>84366147
Were they still publishing Shang-Chi at this point? Or had he dropped into an IP Rights pit yet?
>>
>>84366248
Technically they always had the rights to Shang Chi. It's his father they didn't. It's like how Marvel still owns the rights to Rom characters besides Rom himself.
>>
>>84366176
>there's some weird chemistry there!
So they ship it?
>>
>>
>>84366285
Damn, I didn't even notice that line.
>>
This asshole was pulling a "Born Again" before Fisk did it!
>>
Friggen Jeryn...
>>
>>
>>
Terrorist Accountants. The worst kind!
>>
>>
>>84366266
Well, Weasel certainly looks like a good guy.
>>
Well, if the whole superhero thing doesn't work out, they seem like they could do a decent protection racket.
>>
>>
>>
Huh, this doesn't seem like it's in-character for him...
>>
And this seems REALLY out of character for HIM.
>>
>>
>>84366493
>>84366508
It DOES seem pretty in character for Jeryn, tho.
>>
>>84366521
Or the morally dubious spy character this issue seems to be about...
>>
Better men than you have tried.
>>
>>
>Hi Stan
>Don't forget to close the door

Did he program that himself, or did whoever he works for think he's an idiot?
>>
>>
>>
Power Man and Iron Fist, now in Winter Gear.
>>
Yep, both notes were officially faked.
>>
Luke has always had a knock for words, you know?
>>
Even the computer is talking shit at this guy.
>>
>that smug-ass Luke in the bottom left
>>
>>
Dig a hole, dig a hole, dig a hole, dig a hole...

Yeah, I was watching Ed, Edd, n' Eddy. What of it?
>>
So the whole conflict in this issue is because their bosses aren't talking to the proper people.
>>
This is like a freaking Home Alone movie.
>>
I love how it took him THIS long to recognize Iron Fist. Not like there's many masked Kung Fu masters who dress in green and yelloq.
>>
>>
>>84366816
Its the 70s man, that could be anyone in a velour green and yellow jumpsuit. The mask is kinda generic.
>>
>>84366834
I'm just saying, if he's as big a fan as he says, he should've noticed sooner.
>>
Oh hey, the bazooka is filled with Kirby Dots.
>>
For a second there, it looked like Danny punched THROUGH his face.
>>
Wow, this is fucked up. Is this some kind of weird punishment?
>>
See, I'd get it if he wanted to kill his BOSSES, but these two? Just seems contrived.
>>
I guess we're gonna see if Luke can survive a nuke.
>>
>>
Oh...
>>
>>84366968
So essentially....Iron Fist set off a small Nuclear blast IN ALASKA during the 70s...and no one has mentioned it since.

Seems like the kind of shit you would want to bring up, or for the government to notice ya know.
>>
>>84366990
To be fair, secret government agency. They probably kept that under wraps. I mean, it's hardly the most bullshit thing in Marvel to be ignored.

That would be Kang Dynasty.
>>
I mean, they're clearly sinister, as we can see here.
>>
>"Luke? What would I ever do without you?"
>"Hey, no sweat, man. I couldn't just let you go splat, could I?"

The only way this could be more homoerotic is if they were shirtless.
>>
>>
Man, this is a great start, huh?
>>
... Oh, right. The nuke and the bunker and the suffering.
>>
>>
Holy shit, that guy survived?
>>
Well... if you could call that surviving.
>>
>>
Well... shit.
>>
>>
>>84367098
Isn't the obvious solution to huddle for warmth?
>>
So depending on the kind of radiation, this could STILL be radioactive up there in Marvel Alaska, since they clearly remembered the radiation.
>>
>>84367150
Only in certain fanfics.
>>
And here comes the radiation.
>>
>>84367151
All I know about Marvel Alaska is that's where Cyclops' grandparents live.
>>
>>84367161
The PowerFist ship is a surprisingly rare one.
>>
>>84367185
Paternal or Maternal?
>>
>>84367194
Officially? Because one of the few bits I remember from New Avengers was Spidey, seeing that Luke was annoyed that Jessica used to carry a torch for him, and after swearing he isn't into her, he asked if Iron Fist was still available.
>>
Oh god, Danny's using one of Luke's ideas...
>>
>>84367194
>There is more Daredevil/Iron Fist stuff out there than Power Man/Iron Fist
Doesn't seem right.
>>
>>84367240
Right here we see reasons why there should be more.
>>
>>84367195
Paternal. But it doesn't really matter, it just makes Scott's awful childhood hilariously terrible when you realize his grandparents were alive the whole time.
>>
>>
>>84366223
>An' I think i know how to do just that.

Pay them? Fighting bad guys is their nine to five job. It's what thy do.
>>
>>84367229
And then Luke gets pissed.
>>
>>84367263
Problem is, Luke already doesn't like them, so he CAN say no. That said, if he asked from the beginning they wouldn't hate them so much.
>>
Well, at least she's better looking than their old boss.

And ignoring the guy we've never seen before going into Misty's apartment, what are your thoughts on Colleen's new outfit?
>>
>>84366595
I don't know. Basic "don't be stupid" reminders can be handy. There's tons of basic forgettable shit you can just not do because of a brain fart.
>>
Because she's sticking with it for a while.
>>
>>84366601
This fucker's cheating a Duck Hunt.
>>
DOCTOR DRUID
>>
>>84367637
Really 80's.
>>
Man, these poses are cool as fuck.
>>
>"Watch it, they've got guns."
>"Big deal."
>"They're also federal agents."
>"Big deal."

Yeah, Colleen is in strict "gives no fucks" mode.
>>
It doesn't come up nearly as often, but out of the four of them, Colleen is most likely to fucking kill you.
>>
>"Hey, don't threaten my phone."

If I didn't remember that this guy's name was Gordy, I'd never guess he was the Jewfro guy.
>>
>>
Sadly, I have no idea what's going on in Doctor Strange around this time.
>>
>"I sense a great darkness there."
>"It's probably Master Khan, the evil sorcerer who rules the city."
>"No, Khan I'm aware of. This force was much worse."

DUN DUN DUN
>>
>>
Well, that's not good.
>>
>>84367777
According to the internet, the issue of Dr. Strange they're talking about was called "Into the Dark Dimension", so I'm assuming the Doctor is out.
>>
>>
>>84367822
Huh, that works.
>>
Sorry, 4chan was messing with me and I couldn't see what my last upload was.
>>
>"The Iron Fist's power magnifies your own ability to manipulate your chi, your very life essence. Do you not remember my instructions on self-healing?"

No, it sounds like he doesn't.
>>
So for those of you angry at the new Captain Falcon, turns out that isn't the first time Misty cheated on Danny because someone decided it would be better for her to be with a black guy.
>>
>"Say, pal... did you happen to destroy K'un Lun?"
>"Yes."
>smashes Luke into a wall

So >>84352602 suggested that Sameer Ali Khan may be The Thunderer or John Aman. Personally, I'm king of hoping it'll be Chiantang, here.
>>
>>84367079
Fuck, this page is fantastic.
>>
So we've got one man who's got the best/worst of both worlds. Fast and skilled like Iron Fist, but even more powerful than Luke Cage.
>>
>"The sword: Never drawn except to be used."
>"Never used except to kill."

You'll see this frequently with this era of Colleen.
>>
And he's even just as skilled with weaponry as Colleen.
>>
>>
>>84367258
And it wasn't even like his powers were really on until like the tail end of his orphanage run.

Grandparents Summers must have been really lousy for Scott and Alex to have ended up in an orphanage in Nebraska.
>>
>>
Like I said, when I was going to only do six issues tonight, I found out I was going to end with this. Be honest, you want to see how this ends, don't you?
>>
Huh, this doesn't look good...
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>84367526
>You have any idea what being suddenly orphaned at an early age does to you?

Lady, he's a super-hero. The percetange of superheroes with living parents is practically in the single digits.
>>
>>84368048
I think it might have been one of those things where Claremont throws in something he thinks would be neat even if it doesn't entirely jive with the character. Like, Len Wein once said he wanted to choke Claremont when he read that issue where he randomly reveals that Colossus had a cosmonaut brother, even though Peter's characterization was that of a country boy.
>>
>"The Dragon King"

One Anon mentioned a month ago when I first started Iron Fist (it's at >>83373633 when you're reading this in the archives) that the Dragon Kings never come up again. Here they are. Well, there's only one KING, but it's still an entire city full of dragons.
>>
>>84367483
Danny is now fending off a pair of well intentioned hobos, while in a spacesuit.

Comics.
>>
>>84368163
> Like, Len Wein once said he wanted to choke Claremont

The problem there is that would probably have just given Claremont an erection.
>>
>>84368162
Shit, he was orphaned at NINE.
>>
>>84367637
If she has two tickets anyway, is she at least going to bring Bob along?
>>
I want you to remember this issue, because this is the last time we see Khan for a while. It gives us a fairly decent power showing, considering Chitang here just dropped a pain train on Colleen and Luke.
>>
>>84368206
Nah, I don't remember many strangling scenes in Claremont's comics, and that's a fetish that wouldn't have been hard to sneak into comics.
>>
This is the first origin of Shou Lao The Undying we're given. A mortal fisherman who "dishonored" the Dragon Princess, who was cursed into the form of a fire breathing serpent, who Chitang then ripped his heart out, to force him to live in pain forever.
>>
>>84368163
That's what happens when you have a guy who enjoys fleshing out characters has to do so with characters as boring as classic Cyclops and original Colossus.
>>
>>84367668
HE'S LIKE DOCTOR STRANGE, BUT WORSE IN EVERY WAY!

Doctor Strange has a swinging Bleeker St. townhouse with a huge custom window.
Doctor Druid has a condo in Boston.

Doctor Strange leads the Defenders and lets the Hulk crash on his couch.
Doctor Druid joins the Avengers and tries to mind control everyone into making himself team leader.

They're like a magical Goofus and Gallant.
>>
>>84367705
I hope Priest remembers how important the Mind Meld was after the original Halwan arc.
>>
>>84368288
>Doctor Druid joins the Avengers and tries to mind control everyone into making himself team leader.
Did that actually happen? He seemed pretty cool in Mighty Avengers. By the way, since Luke Cage was basically the leader of that team, we're doing that eventually.
>>
Huh, so I guess the brown one was Fera?
>>
>>84368206
>>84368252
Think of it like editing Bendis. For all the horrible shit we SEE, there's even worst shit that someone bops them on the head and says "Knock that off." to.
>>
Apparently the has never seen what Yu-Ti is supposed to look like.
>>
>>84368304
>Did that actually happen?
Oh yeah, Dr Druid's original run as an Avenger just had him get scummier and scummier.
>>
>>84368287
I never really thought of ever of them as that boring, and the thing is, neither of those retcons really added anything to their characters. Scott having grandparents was just an excuse to get him on a bus where he'd meet Maddy, and Peter's cosmonaut brother was an excuse to freak out on a rocket and...no, that's it, just an excuse to have a guy flip out. It's one of those flaws that you can never unsee when it gets pointed out.
>>
>>84368360
I haven't actually read it, so I don't know if it was actually any good. I'm just remembering seeing Busiek get annoyed that Cyclops's dad was the Corsair.
>>
This page, and the rampage, is why I mentioned that this early, there was only one Iron Fist. He would've stomped K'un Lun a new mudhole centuries ago if it happened frequently.
>>
I suppose you could argue that Danny's flashbacks here aren't in strictly linear time. Otherwise, it makes no sense for him to get so annoyed at Danny in particular killing Shou Lao.
>>
After all, we haven't the slightest idea how long he was imprisoned. He could've sperged out after the first Iron Fist and was locked there the entire time.
>>
>>
Ah, wizards. Take them by surprise and they can't do jack.

Don't argue with me, /tg/, I'm taking the piss.
>>
And you could easily assume that Danny here is just going on a Parker-esque angst over something that wasn't his fault.
>>
>"I can't face the guilt!"

That, at least, is something I'd expect from Peter Parker.
>>
>>
>>84368374
I've heard it being compared to Spider-Man's parents being secret agents, but personally I never saw Scott as being the definitive everyman the way Peter Parker is.
>>
All right Anons. In a few weeks, you'll want to remember this moment in particular, and the preceding pages before it. I'll explain why when we get to that point. And please, don't go spoiling it for people who know what I'm getting at already.
>>
>>84368415
>It's everyone else's fault I stabbed my niece!
>>
All right Anons, if you're still around for this, let's finish up with this last issue for the night.
>>
>>
>>
I like how, as nice as Lei-Kung is to Danny, he is constantly tired of Luke Cage's shit.
>>
Even if they have some mutual respect over both being really strong.
>>
>Dragons have the mystic ability to take on any form they desire.

Remember this, Anons. ANY FORM.
>>
I admit, I like the humor of the bottom panel.
>>
And I forgot the page. Good job, me.

>There came a time when the old gods died
Is see what you did there.

Sorry for the lack of commentary, I'm hoping to tear through this last issue, due to how late it is. Hopefully I'll pace myself better next time.

Man, scalies have it made in Marvel.

Luke Cage: Picking a fight with literally an entire city full of dragons, after ONE kicked his ass.

Danny's been doing rather well against this friggen DRAGON.

Blow to the back of the head, and he's still going!

Take a moment to picture Master Khan doing that dance, Anons. Have a chuckle.

DANNY NO

So, red or green costume. Preferences?
>>

Green. Red and Yellow is a bit too Phoenix looking.
>>
DUN DUN DUN!

See you tomorrow Anons, to finally finish the original Power Man and Iron Fist series.
>>
>>84368723
Red's a bit too aggressive for Danny, I think.
>>
>>84368710
No, Danny. You can't kick a portal.
>>84368723
From these two: Green. Red and yellow is kinda hard to balance and Fist's costume doesn't have enough yellow for it. I'm also a fan of his new costume.

>Rick

>Dick

Yep. I noticed the same thing by the time Harry showed up, myself.

I kind of like DD's feet of clay. He was a very human, very real, character. All that mystical power, all those years of study and hard work, but he's just as petty and human as any head of an department in a university or hospital.

It's a shame he's stayed almost entirely dead for so long, given magic bullshit makes resurrection even more plausible than it does for regular heroes in the MU.

Three golden dragons and an ewok? Does he even know what an ewok is?
>>

So why is it that these people get to keep their suits in prison?
>>
>>84369724
The fact that nobody pulls the mask from supervillains in prisons was actually a plot point in Armor Wars. Tony made Rhodey wear white make up, so they'll break into prison (Dillon's cage is made specifically for him) and disarm all guards and their armors.

I like their winter wear
