I always thought that explanation was really dumb. People are trained to shoot center mass because it's the easiest target to hit and there are a lot of important stuff there. Giving criminals a bright target to hit is really dumb. I know that the logo is supposed to be bullet resistant, but if Batman ducks the wrong way or the crook's aim is off, then you get a headshot. It makes way more sense to keep everything dark to make the target much harder to see and to bulletproof the whole suit.

It is really dumb. If they know where the symbol is on him, it's just a hair up from his neck and head, so anyone can just aim at the top of the symbol and hope to score a mouth shot on his completely unprotected jaw. Keeping in mind that a panicked criminal would never have any real accuracy anyways, the yellow being to draw attention only works with real marskmans taking a rushed shot and hopefully hitting a small and specific section of pads. The entire idea was just written by Frank Miller to soft retcon the costume so edgy neckbeards wouldn't get mad for thinking it was dumb so they could enjoy his story. The real reason its there is for brand recognizability.

The only kind of batsuit I really hate are the ones that look overly armoured, and all black. I like the Nolan movies but hate the way the suits look. The exception to this is the Burton suit, which I kind of like.

Honestly, while the Dark Knight trilogy is good, almost every single thing about its Batman is terrible. Personality, costume, portrayal, choreography, etc. How they were people going 'nuh uh! Christian Bale is the only Batman for ME!' after Ben Affleck was announced its completely beyond me.

Seriously, this. More and more its been bothering me lately how much of an afterthought the bat looks like on art without the yellow behind it. It reminds me of one of those bat silhouettes you put on the window for Halloween. It says a lot that the bat silhouette on the oval logo only has one or two designs, while the logoless bat has a bunch of different shapes and sizes.
