Originally Zagtoon was supposed to have it animated by Toei, and all we got were some concept art before the personalities were finalized, and they waffled about making it CGI instead.

On another note, I vastly prefer the current designs to the original, but part of me still wishes Adrien had a bit of Felix's attitude, and that it all took place when they were in high school instead of middle school.

It really depends. Toei's mostly shit at scheduling/takes on too many projects at a time (SMC S3 looks good because it was wayyy ahead of schedule, to the point where some animators had no idea what episode they worked on by the time their stuff aired) and the Filipino branch does have some talent, it's just that the Japanese branch relies on them for last minute animation so they're a overworked, stressed group.
A Ladybug anime by Toei would've looked fine, since they would have had a decent schedule to finish animating an entire season before it airs for an international broadcast.

I think of generals as threads that are always up, with a new thread being created as soon as the old one dies. And as threads that are used as chatrooms by people, usually tripfags, as much as they are used to talk about the shows themselves. See: /sug/, and to a lesser extent, /sveg/ and the Toonami threads. Even if the last two are only restricted to the weekends, they still fit the criteria.I'm less harsh on them only because I also browse those threads.
The Ladybug threads never became this. When somebody wants to discuss something specific about the show, they make a thread, which is how it should be. Although, more often than not, it seems to be "Does /co/ like this?" for some reason.
