If I had to go with one specific aspect I would be much more willing to state Light considering as an aspect it's also mean to represent information while Mind is moreso about choice.
However thanks to the discussion alt!Callie gave at the end about how aspects are interconnected in a way we can't see I feel way more confident in stating that there probably isn't one set aspect that governs "memories" but each interacts with that concept in it's own way.

I would argue that one of the few things the retcon powers did initially for John was forcing him to come to terms with the personal responsibility associated with having influence over events. He accepts that he has to learn to use these new powers, despite his fears of not being the ideal candidate for utilizing them. The problem here being that in the end he just does what Terezi tells him to after shouting at him, instead of working somewhat equally to figure out what to do to ensure the best results. I couldn't say. The thing to consider here is context. Dirk, contextually, was openly gay. He didn't care about it, the others didn't care about it.
Even if we go with the assumption that Dave was closeted gay, there simply was not enough "subtext" as >>84300588 is arguing. He showed overt interest in at least two female characters (Jade and Terezi) and this was not disingenuous. None of his interactions with other male characters even showed a slight tipping of the hand. Everything that could be construed as "gay" that he did was, in context, completely disingenuous.
That's the big problem, it's just not something that's congruent with his character at all and the only way it COULD have been is if there was more explanation and a better setup. But Hussie just hamfisted it in after the Retcon, which is why it's bad characterization and people are annoyed.

I think you may be exaggerating, given the course of 500+ post threads usually cover a good range of posts, including gripes with the post retcon comic. But if I had to offer a reason for its prevalence, outside of the usual controversial reasons any shipping discussion brings, it's likely the way that what were the two most popular characters with the most depth and potential for development came out of the retcon acting considerably differently to their prior selves, due to reasons we didn't get to see. A backlash on the supposed relationship due to the poor character handling from Hussie essentially.

There's certainly subtext in place to imply he's gay, >>84300562 brought up how he was defensive over Rose speculating on his homosexuality and there's the very brief moment he mentions he loves John to Rose when it came off as completely random. "I should check up on John, because.. I love him" and then Rose just goes "I know". I agree on that I would have loved to explore further if Dave did have some unrequited feelings for John.
I really do struggle to see where he showed overt interest in Jade so if you could point me into some dialogues that they had I'd very much like to read them. I don't deny that he very much had an interest in Terezi however.
Everything Dave did in context could also be construed as someone dealing with suppressed sexuality who doesn't know how else to state it other than to make it into a joke. It's like how his "irony" was basically a shield for the fact he he felt neglected and uncared for.
The only thing I think Hussie really hamfisted was that he thought he could give us Vriska's reappearance without ANY conflict.

I think it's just an easy focal point for criticism given the range of issues associated with the retcon's effects. In particular on the two most popular characters who end up acting differently than they used to for reasons we either don't see or don't exist and their interactions are being used as a hamfisted "are they aren't they?" pairing when they had a perfectly good previous dynamic as best friends.
Shipping is just an odd subject matter that causes real conflict, why? Who fucking knows; I'd love to see some genuine research into it, but it's such a weird and select phenomenon that I doubt there's anything solid of that sort.

Dave's actions, up until putting his head in Karkat's lap, are indistinguishable from typical heterosexual male behavior. Regarding Dave's interest in Jade, they certainly had a close bond, close enough that he said they "had kind of a special relationship" post-retcon during his conversation with Dirk. Pre-retcon, he was also distressed when Jade said he had broken her heart (referring to Davesprite), to which Dave said he would never do that. And Jade and Davesprite canonically dated pre-retcon, and since the Davesprite half of Davepeta stated he wasn't conflicted about possibly dating Karkat, it can be assumed that Davesprite and Dave have the same orientation and possible attraction to the same people

Considering their last few logs in the comic, they both admitted their faults in the relationship and feel bad that they messed things up, so I think they can talk through the issues they had and try to address their problems. dave and karkat already had a thing going with other characters (female characters) so their ship kind of threw those relationships to the trash. john had what? maybe rose? she was denied quickly cus of lesboaction (which was not rushed in the least) maybe vriska? nope, she was already swooning over meenah and had already dated dead john for a while.
roxy had same problem as john, most dating prospects were taken or gay or both. then john came, who looked like one of her crushes (jake). remember that john also found mom lalonde hot before she died so there is that.

She was written as a proper secondary, supporting character back when there was a clear main cast. She added to the story's plot, the primary stage of Skaia and most importantly she helped develop John as a character which is the most important thing for a secondary character to do. It was a scenario from a thread a few weeks ago, the idea being Karkat and Kanaya are hanging out, they fall asleep together on the couch (maybe cuddling) and wake up in the dream bubbles with Porrim teasing them until eventually invitations to bow chicka bow wow are handed out. Both Karkat and Kanaya have issues with this, neither of which is powerful enough to dissuade them.
A fun idea I had was Kanaya unsure about sex with her ancestor, then suddenly she hears Rose calling down to her from a nearby balcony, telling her "Hey, we've all fucked our moms, it's pretty cool."

Very most likely, considering the variety of environments they live in it would make sense that their body is well equip to protect them from the various elements on the plant and the bugs present in them. Although, it could stand to reason that the strength of their immune system corresponds with their blood type, given the incredibly young life spans of the lower bloods and much longer life spans of the high bloods. Perhaps their internal systems degrade over time, especially given that many of the lower bloods have psyhic abilities which could demand a lot of chemical energy to fuel, burning the body out prematurely.
In addition they live rather sparsley, so diseases would find it incredibly hard to spread meaningfully, if Lusus are immune to Troll centic diseases then you can imagine a very disease-free society. Their oceans are apparently very clean as well, low pollution with better technological housing systems all over Alternia.
Can we discuss Caliborn/Lord English and how Hussie was incredibly close to having the perfect antagonist for a coming of age story in the form of a raging manchild on a power trip
But then showed him as the only one who played Sburb mostly properly, within the rules of his fucked up one person session, making him the only character that actually earned his power, fucking up his own apparent point
