I've got the Criterion version of Cronos, The Devil's Backbone on DVD and saw Labyrinth in theaters. I saw Pacific Rim twice. I even picked up Crimson Peak to see if he's gotten better.
He's all about set trappings and spectacle. Subtle he ain't.

Or how the cops and New Yorkers who literally just saw Hellboy save them all are now mad, pointing guns at him, the mom ungrateful for saving her baby. It's like they were poorly trying to justify him leaving the BPRD by making the humans around him irrationally dickish.
To be fair though, those cops were NYPD. That part might be accurate.
Oh yeah, and that part where he fires his gun at the tooth fairy charging at the reporter lady yet somehow the bullet doesn't plow through and hit her as well.
