A character with only superficial flaws who is automatically liked by the entire cast, and if there are any characters who dislike them, it's only because those characters are bad people. They frequently come out of nowhere yet have a connection to a major character - despite the fact that this connection means they would have been mentioned before now. They also often have a powerset copied from a major character. Besides Silk under Slott, Nadia "Hope" Pym from ANADvengers meets all the criteria of a Mary Sue, at least on paper. The male version is called a Gary Stu.
