Powered armor competitions exist in real life. Some kid savant getting a wild hair up their ass to build an Iron Man suit and bust skulls makes a lot of sense in the MU. One of the Spider-Man novels had a kid who built his own powered armor and committed minor crimes trying to be a supervillain.

Remember that woman who dressed as Spoiler Batgirl and went around cons bitching at Didio because fangirls are cancer? Harper Row is her daughter.
Bitchy Batgirl brought her daughter to a con dressed up as a character she had created call Bluebird, met Snyder and he decided to add her to the comics, one redesign later and we're stuck with Harper.

Depends on the Hulkbuster; AoU Hulkbuster was big enough that Tony probably had full range of motion inside the thing and slaved the Hulkbuster movements to his own.
