The last part of Homestuck was weird. It felt like it wasn't canon, as if it was some kind of non-official fanfiction. It doesn't help that it was almost entirely outsourced.
Official merchandising trying to sell that Vriska is part of the Meteor Crew, or that Davekat is the most important ship in the comic, doesn't feel genuine at all.

Acts 1-5 is the original trilogy obv
mid act 6 is like the prequels. yeah it starts to get shitty and convoluted but they still have the charm and soul of george Lucas
The shots are filled to the brim with so much shit it was fun to relook at and see what stuff is hidden away
late act 6 when hussie started outsourcing felt like episode 7
It may look better at points, but a lot of the soul is gone. The scenes are sterile and clean with little to speculate or really look at.
Both are kinda bad, but at least the former was FUN
which was made most of act 6 still enjoyable for me, even if it was a clusterfuck.

Rogue's steal and redistribute, akin to Robin Hood. Nepeta enjoys roleplay, adorning a new identity, taking someone else's identity as her own. She also quite literally stole Davesprite's identity when they became Davepeta. She was also obsessed with shipping, a way more literal representation of how a rogue will take stuff and redistribute it. She was obsessed with matching people up. :D <3
Roxy's rogue manifested in her inability to be understood, she took the void and redistributed it over her own words, an obstruction that she had to then get rid of. Void is about obscurity after all! She also blacked out the session by virtue of taking the void and redistributing it passively. :3 :3

There were some strenuous observations they both shared when we discussed it in the past, when the classpect craze was in full force. Put simply Rogues seem to characterized as well meaning to others and actively willing to help them but lacking in some personal area that they don't confront easily, usually tied in with their aspect in some form and possibly what structures their development as a class in sburb given the whole 'working against a challenge' idea.
Both Nepeta, Roxy and even Rufioh weirdly enough have a number of similarities you can observe and try to interpret their shared meanings in relation to their shared Rogue class and the various interactions with their aspect said observations would/could suggest.

Christ if that'd been touched on it could have been fantastic, even a dramatic improvement for the vaunted retcon Vriska had it been made apparent that people just put up with her shit as opposed to actually liking her. So in the end even if she was the big important boss bitch, there's this other person about who is the person she always wanted to be without sacrificing friendship to obtain it.
But, as you said, everyone seems to love her post retcon, even fucking Terezi. Just makes me hate it that much more again.

The thing to remember about Vriska is that not many of the characters involved in the ending actually knew her. Terezi and Kanaya did. Dave did secondhand from Terezi. Rose, Jade, and the Alphas all had no interaction with the old Vriska, so it wouldn't make any sense for them to dislike her.
As far as they all knew, Vriska was just another one of the surviving trolls, and one who was always zealously trying to help everyone and keep everyone safe. As hamfisted as the writing was, nobody really broke character. They all had reason to like Vriska.

I can't for one second believe any of the members of the meteor trip didn't spend some time together or in each others company at some point learning about the others on the ship. Three years is such a long fucking time, with such a small number of people there's no way you wouldn't be able to avoid them or at the absolute minimum learning about them enough to know what they're like.
And even still they'd have obvious reason to dislike her given her personality, a point brushed over in light on John's magical punch. But fuck it, we never see their actual interactions and retcon Vriska and all the meteor cast are just different fucking characters to the ones we knew so who cares.

This decision was actually a little harder since most if not all of the Act 6 kids kind of stand out to me in their own little ways. She is definitely and clearly the winner after tallying the scores, though.

All the trolls are terrible side characters, and all the minor trolls were as bad as each other in that regard. None of them added anything to the main characters, even among the trolls and the only things any of them did if anything was minor plot contrivances which were either terrible or brushed over later, the dreambubbles and the Matriorb being the obvious examples of that.
The only thing they had going for them was their designs, being amusing or being interesting and by the end of the story none of them are amusing or interesting.

She's still got a fucking terrible, manipulative personality. She just doesn't flat out mindcontrol or maim anyone after her Egbert smack-down. We can't fully say what she's like or was like during that time on the meteor, given we only see glimpses of some artitsts rendition of it. But given what Terezi says, how she handles Karkat and the Jake situation we can see she's still entirely unpleasant, just not dangerous to those around her.
Her past misdeeds and personality don't just disappear and whilst a good number of the meteor crew haven't experienced that, they'd almost assuredly hear about it from someone who did.

Oh for sure, some of the trolls had to die inevitably and those two were prime candiates. The proble I have is that they weren't use effective as characters in any way, they didn't help develop main characters, the plot, the troll race much and their deaths weren't setup in a way that was impactful.
Had Nepeta been shown being friends with Terezi or being this happy, positive force when there's all this doom and gloom about her death could have meant something to the troll's development, Terezi especially.
So too for Equius, given he was one of the most capable trolls on the meteor. Had he been shown as someone they relied on in some way, his death would have meant they were left in a weakened state and would have to work with others to get things done, Sollux shares this missed opportunity as well given how much they actually relied on him, yet his absence is never brought up.

Equius did build Tavros new legs but everything he did wound up sort of glossed over. You could argue that being Heir of Void makes it fitting his death is impactless, but he deserved more screentime. Some logs with Karkat could've furthered the leadership ideas both had, maybe given insight on Alternian society. Logs with Gamzee might've foreshadowed him going sober. There was a lot of room that wasn't filled for him character-wise.
Same goes for Nepeta, she really didn't have the chance to interact with anyone meaningfully.

Homestuck does use humour to end tension and it did so in the retcon too. Humour is necessary because tension is impossible to keep rising, you need moments of relief for the audience to be able to still feel the intensity of a moment, I don't know why you're so against Dave having a serious conversation.

Given how very few of the trolls really embraced their roles by that point, it could have been an amusing contrast to have him truly come into being the Heir of Void by dying, whilst in life he was far away from that by being useful. Or just having him do things, but more in the background as opposed to Sollux or Aradia's exploits which are directly shown.
He could have been doing something super important that no one really knew he was doing as a way of protecting him or them which seems rather Heir like. I mean, even in death he doesn't represent the Void well given he comes back to life and is incredibly influential as Arquiusprite. Perhaps the ability to selectively embrace the void is more fitting, he can choose to embrace the protection of the Void so he is overlooked and able to get important shit done without fear of rebuttal. Could help to explain how he got the drop on Caliborn for instance.

I also like the idea of him conflicting with Karkat for leadership or the leadership styles employed before it was cemented in place. There's a Karkat memo where this idea is played with and their interactions, including future Karkat, are really rather enjoyable.
It'd also make the fact that Karkat sent him to his death even more meaningful, given in classical troll society getting someone sent to their death would be exactly what a 'leader' would be expected to do. It could chew him up inside, act as a platform for his development after the low point in his leadership after the events of Murderstuck.

I really didn't like how Karkat was handled post-Murderstuck.
Being moirails with Gamzee, I guess was fine but I really can't remember him having any emotional baggage from it. There should've been more turmoil about not being able to stop Eridan/sending Equius and Nepeta to their deaths. Maybe even some fear that he's subconsciously carrying on the shitty leadership ideas of the society he left behind.
As for Equius, I think giving him some role in the game that others would've acknowledged as crucial would've given him importance, even if that role was only mentioned, not seen. His lurking in the background was always there, but it never had contrast with actual achievement in his isolation.
His tumultuous relationship with Aradia didn't get much coverage either, looking back on it.

I think it made sense, given Disney just sunk a massive cost in buying the rights and producing a film. They had to see if the public were still interesting in the franchise so they go with a safe option, whilst doubling down on advertising, quite an expensive gamble which paid off handsomely. The problem with Karkat after Murderstuck and the resolution leading to the 3 year trip happens, he just doesn't do anything that can be considered development. That should have been his low point of his character arc, he'd failed as a leader and a friend and people had been killed as a result. This is a perfect platform for character development and nothing comes from it. If nothing else Hussie is the master of setting up something only to do absolutely nothing with it, the trolls as a whole are the biggest example of that.
I still doubt he even owned up to sending Equius to his death and subsequently getting Nepeta killed as a result, I desperately wanted it to come up and cause conflict with the other trolls left alive. The trolls as a whole are way too tolerant of Karkat's shit, having something disrupt that would have really hammered in how badly he'd fucked up and made for an interesting plot to see worked through.
Same with your idea of the leadership and culture issues with trolls actually being dealt with, given their plans eventually turn into repopulating the troll race and doing it right this time. It could have been a thing for him and Kanaya to deal with together, she fucking needed something to do after bagging her Rose trophy.

Whilst I'm not exactly sure what you could do to shown bi-sexuality without having the character show attraction to members of both sexes in a non-ironic or joking manner, Dave's shown interesting in women throughout the comic. His cool facade breaks down when in the presence of hot mothers, if that's not showing genuine attraction from a character like Dave then very little else is.
The point here being, there's nothing shown of that for guys, his opinions and interactions with John are classic best friend interactions. I think that if we had skipped Game Over and all of the retcon bullshit, Act 7 would be significantly better than it is. It just flows a whole lot better and Vriska's actions and motivations and the culmination of her arc leading the ghost army makes so much more sense.
