What are some good direct-to-dvd sequels or animated films?

I don't recall Lion King 2 being that bad.
If you like Scooby than you may enjoy the direct to dvd films. They aren't Zombie Island, Boo Brothers, Reluctant Werewolf, Ghoul School tier of course but a lot of them hold their own weight. A lot of these also have real monsters in them not unlike the ones just mentioned. The only one I would recommend avoiding completely is Pirates Ahoy. I started watching it but it felt way too childish even by Scooby standards.

The first 7 + 9&10 of the Land Before Time sequels were pretty fun, though 9 and 10 were a step down

Given the recent spin-off show Lion guard, I had to check and see whether this movie was still canon or not.
Given Kiara still exists, I guess this movie still is. Might have to check it out again seeing as I can't recall what exactly occurred in the story.
