I like that too, but I think the main problem is sameface in comics. it is too much work for the artist to draw every face significantly different.
New Mutants with McLeod was one of the best books in portraying people with no same face and accurate to their ethnicities.

The funny thing about that is that the artist who drew the storyline at the time, Andy Kubert, had such a bad case of sameface syndrome that I had no idea that Psylocke and Kwannon had two different bodies/faces with different ethnicities. They looked virtually identical, and the only way you could tell them apart was through the slightly different hair/skin color as well as their costumes.

Ugh, yeah. Both the Kubert sons have that going but it was extra obnoxious in this run when he was just imitating Lee as much as he could. I had no idea who Kwannon and Betsy were, and it added to the totally confusing storyline.

What really bugged me about Andy Kubert's art on X-Men back in the day, besides the sameface syndrome, was his poor grasp of perspective (yeah, you could maybe make the argument that he was deliberately using "forced perspective" but if he was, he was still overusing it).
Jim Lee had his fair share of detractors back when he was the chief X-artist, but if nothing else, at least he had a decent handle on perspective/foreshortening.

The thing was, Andy Kubert was capable of doing solid work, as he demonstrated on a couple of appearances on The Savage Sword of Conan back in the mid-1980s.
It just seemed like his composition and figure work got progressively worse over time. Even today, I find myself feeling underwhelmed by his current work. Sometimes I wonder if I just expect too much from him given his father's reputation and legacy as one of the iconic war comics artists of the Silver Age, but to be honest, I think he's just not a very good artist (he's not terrible by any means, but I'm more likely to avoid a comic if I know that he's drawing it).
