Geoff is half Lebanese and based some of Simon's experiences off things that have happened to his own family members so yes I think Baz would have been the same

His sister was killed in a plane crash. Flight TWA 800. Conspiracy theories say it was a terrorist attack or accidental US missile launch. I believe they made the story of the flight in to a movie.
