Gravity Falls General
it died out pretty fast as the show ended, a pretty big sign of how quickly people soured on the show
His points aren't really new, but they are still true.
Alex is a fraud and a retard for not giving it a 3rd season.
But at least it isn't 80% filler episodes like SU

/gfg/ was pretty dead for the entire last year or so

also GF was 100% filler episodes because there wasn't really a plot anyway

What did the symbols mean? nothing really
why was everything weird? because it was weird idk aliens or something

It's probably for the best that it's dead
Grendip is best ship.
Reminder that Journal 3 and the inevitable bill statue hunt will be way better than season 2B.
They needed 3 seasons and a movie to wrap this thing up.
Also the movie would need to be rated R.
>>84093058
>shit art for shit ship
How ironic
The theme song is the best thing ever, and I remember watching through season 1 hoping that the twins would eventually stop fawning over impossible love interests and get to some mystery hunting with Uncle Stan.
I love the jokes and the stories of each episode, even if sometimes it ended in a typical Disney fashion where the character learns something and needs to explain their growth at the end.
The fandom is phenomenal and I love how the codes were quickly solved by fans and available on the wiki for the lazy like me. Also the art is great.
Even if the overall story felt pretty unfulfilling, I'm still happy and grateful that such a wonderful show was made.
>>84093152

i guess i dont disagree, but i sure as fuck never got so EMOTIONAL about this as people did. fuckit, she was cute. not-learning-her-lesson made her look like a worse person. that was a knock on her, not a free ride. the SHOW called her out.

people here thought they were dipper so mabel not worshipping her brother and sucking his cock made them awful mad
I've been rewatching Gravity Falls lately and if there's one thing I noticed, it's how poorly written Dipper is. Every episode is just him actually trying to do something right and move the story along, only to have to stop midway and A P O L O G I Z E to Mabel for whatever the plot demands this time.
For fucks sake Alex really is a hack if he can't even write his protagonist well

>>84096338
Gravity Falls had Ford. That's literally it. The blind eye society, the Stan hints, everything in the show that was a secret was built around the reveal that Stan had a twin brother named Ford who wrote the Journals.
Steven Universe has Pink Diamond, Rose's role in the Rebellion, Pearl's backstory, Garnet as a fusion, the Diamond Authority in general, and Lion, which is just off the top of my head.
>>84090157

Reading 20th Century Boys.
In the Berenstein universe, we got three seasons of "Gravity Falls" and a TV movie. The big reveal of Stan and Ford being twin brothers was the Season 2 finale, and the lead-in to Weirdmaggedon was Season 3, with Weirdmaggedon itself being the TV movie. Every question we had would be answered over the course of the third season, with some extant questions being relegated to a post-series book series modeled after the three journals.
In this Berenstain universe, we got two seasons. Stan/Ford became the mid-season finale, and Weirdmaggedon became the season/series finale entirely. All questions were left unanswered, with only a handful explained in a single book modeled after Journal #3.

Season 1 was the funniest cartoon since Spongebob. I loved every minute of it. Season 2 was a fucking let down though. It tanked the plot hard. Alex got bored with it and/or "couldn't handle it anymore" and he ended it too soon. Characters suffered, plot suffered, pacing suffered, etc. It really did need three seasons and a feature film. They barely explained any mysteries. All of them were shrugged off like in this post : >>84090476
. The show doesn't really mean anything at all now. I'll still have nostalgia of it (show started when I was 15) and season one was funny but it dropped the ball so fucking hard it's hilarious. Seriously, what happened to the books opening ultimate power or the aliens and where the creatures came from? Also, Bill's homeworld and all these other dropped details like Blendin and where he went and how he even fucking relates to the story. The show went from being well written to laughable. Especially after Not What He Seems, which might be the single best episode of western animation.
Jesus Christ.

>>84096495
Alex is a mongoloid and his argument doesn't follow
Putting someone on a Watchlist doesn't strip them of any rights, it just marks them as someone to look out for, which is why making these lists without due process, while prone to abuse, isn't fundamentally a problem.
But once you start using those lists, created without any real oversight, to take away rights from people then you're on a SERIOUSLY slope into authoritarianism.
>>84097626

>>84097799
The watchlists were already being used to keep people off airplanes. War on Terror people didn't have a problem with the lists then but now that guns are involved they suddenly have something to say. And once this current incident blows over they're going to be silent on it until the next big shooting.
>>84094807

Yup, seems like lazy hack behavior to me.
>>84097343
Disney was doing constant hiatuses because Alex was already wanting to end the show after Season 2. They were hoping they could negotiate with him to make a 3rd Season.
Faggot should've counted himself lucky, Craig & Lauren would probably kill to get 3rd Season for WOY.
>>84096447
Honestly both shows are pretty good.
>>84096430
Mabel really got forgotten and neglected as the show went on, that's all. The show was more invested in the mysteries and therefore Dipper. They should have had Mabel get interested in the mysteries, too.
>>84098860
I think the writing staff and Hirsch in particular were way too in love with Mabel.
Even when she was relevant she was always played up to be a borderline angelic figure who never did lasting harm and only ever did harm at all with the noblest of intentions.
Dipper took some hard knocks when he fucked up he grew and changed and became a better person, Mabel, not so much.
I asked this before but the thread 404'd so I didn't see an answer: does anyone know what these memes from Japanese social media are about? Are they supposed to be making fun of America for preferring its cartoons to anime? Or are the cheering people supposed to represent westaboos?

>>84099852
The big issue is that Americans seem to love their guns.
People from/in other countries collect guns all the time, sure, but only Americans seem to actually and genuinely LOVE guns. They defend and praise guns, and the right to bear an armory-full of them, with the same amount of blind passion any other person would defend their own limbs.

Because it's part of our fundamental laws, and is essential to our history and liberty. Not only did guns give us the tools to carve out the great western expanse, it protected us for generations from those seeking to make this nation tyrannical. It gave us the tools as Americans to not simply be members of a nation, but the correction to that nation's overreach. The law isn't stated 'people should have guns because guns are good' it's 'people should have guns so as always to make the government know that its people can will and should depose you if you are too overreaching'. We did it in the Frontier days, we did it in Athens Tennessee, and we should do it again if it needs to happen.
>but you could never counter the government with rifles
That's why the list of acceptable weapons for citizens needs to be expanded. This isn't just a matter of fantasy, the people should always have the right to check with armed force the government. This is what the law was for, for OUR protection, not the government. If we commit crimes, yes, we should be punished, but as this is more than an arbitrary privilege big daddy government gave you but also the means to ensure our national stability, it is necessary. That is what authoritarians in this country don't want us to realize: A nation of 100 million intelligent armed citizens can and will have the power to easily bleed a tyrannical force in this nation for all its coffers. Perhaps in your nation you've enshrined a social contract of government and governed, but in the United States we are able to claim our own Mutually Assured Destruction with our government, to protect our liberties and ensure the due process of the law. And woe to any pearlclutcher or powergrabber who would wish to neuter us of that right.
The right to keep and bear arms protects all other rights, and no madman with a gun will be the spark to deny the 100 million good souls of the USA guns too.
>>84099852
Well it looks more like Alex Hirsch was just strawmanning the fuck out of that person.

I'm not going to pretend to know for sure because I don't know a single damn thing about Japanese social media, but I'm guessing more the latter, it looks like their equivalent of any sort of "Why are you still watching x when y is so much better", except with us its usually anime over cartoons, and for them, it seems to be reversed because its a unique and fun cartoon while the anime its being compared to is moeblob/fujoshit trash. I've heard Gravity Falls is hugely popular in Japan.

>oh it's actually the only way to banish Bill forever
>but some of them doesn't make sense

You know, a while back people tried rebelling against the government by armed force. They lost. It's known as the Whiskey Rebellion. And let's not forget about the civil war. Americans have never had the power to overthrow their government by force.
If that's why you think we need guns, that's laughable. Guns are tools. Tools that are sometimes necessitated by people's lives. That's the only reason we're allowed them.

>>84100890
I really don't want to get drawn into debating the politics behind Alex's "argument", I'm pretty sure the political shit is why I never see a Gravity Falls thread last over 200 posts anymore (usually deletion), I'm focused more on the fact that he argues with trollish bait logic. If he was a right winger he'd be a Fox News pundit. It just shows he's unwilling to be the type of person who reasons with the other side and maintains a level head about such things. Instead he's screaming "RACISTS!!" and "HOMOPHOBES!!" and other things at people for liking a different political candidate. It ties more into the rumors that have been posted that Alex is terrible to work with, the awfulness of his personality as it comes off in social media is something that ties into this.
>>84100974
That pointing Alex pointing out hypocrisy rings pretty hollow when he himself is a hypocrite.
>>84100958
Yep

>>84101004
I wish we could have Gravity Falls threads not 'Alex Hirsch's political opinions' threads. The people who keep complaining all the time and derailing threads are more annoying than Alex tweeting a bit.
>>84101012
>Fag couldn't even stand for his own words.
You do realize that the "This is basically" videos are supposed to be comedic in nature, right?
A 1½ minute video that is supposed to also pack in humor isn't going to accurately reflect anyone's opinion.
>>84101060
Well, not entirely true. Yes, seeing the same left vs right arguments is annoying. However, some of Alex's tweets are so outrageously bad (the foghorn sounds one for instance) that they really do deserve constant scorn and ridicule. When like 5% of his tweets are Gravity Falls related and the other 95% are him virtue signaling, its hard to get around.
>>84100939
>a rebellion failed therefore no one should have this right
What logic is this?
>And let's not forget the Civil War
Two nations that claimed sovereignty over military bases in the south that led to open conflict? Secession is different that what we're talking about
>Americans have never had the power to overthrow their government by force.
You seem to imagine that a right is only worth protecting if you can win without physical harm or the threat of losing. How many people have died to ensure freedoms in nations all over the world? If you are so unable to find principles willing to die over, I pity you.
>If that's why you think we need guns, that's laughable.
A desire to have the means to secure our liberties at all times is laughable? A government can be answerable to its citizens without guns sometimes, but how often have men who seek power not been so kept in check?
>Guns are tools
Tools of protection against oppressing force, be they criminal, corporate, or conventioned.
>That's the only reason we're allowed them
No one should 'allow' you to have rights. You as an individual are a sovereign being, and deserve inalienable rights that your governments respect as sacrosanct. Rights of mankind are not given to us by people, or by Gods, but by the nature of existence. They are the standard principle all of us are born with. Some are denied this right by others, but in a vacuum they deserve the respect of them. Call it a belief system if you must feel that that discredits it, but the sovereignty of the individual is what I will defend.
>>84101008
And that makes the right wingers any less hypocritical because....?
>why do you want to destroy freedom ?
>but you supported watchlists the first time
>no you see, that time we were PROTECTING freedom, we love freedom
The problem in this exchange isn't the libs supporting watchlists when is something they care about, they righties did the same a few years ago, the problem is that despite doing exactly the same one side still claims to be the "champions of freedom"
The dems build their discourse around equality and the reps around freedom, it's not the dems who betray their own principles when supporting blacklisting.
>>84101135
>However, some of Alex's tweets are so outrageously bad (the foghorn sounds one for instance) that they really do deserve constant scorn and ridicule.
Yeah but why do you need to do that here?

We use guns to pretend we can stand up to the government if they ever get out of hand.
It's not true of course but it's a narrative where I can be a hero maybe sometime in the future and I'll be damned if you take that away from me.

You romanticize firetubes in a way that's almost poetic in how tragically sad it is. Guns are guns. They don't make heroes out of people and they don't secure freedom. They're a tool for the sane and a crutch for the paranoid and insecure. War is outdated, revolutions are fantasy and you probably have a job you should be doing instead of waxing lyrical about rights like you're the only one who understands them. They're subjective anyway, just because you or a bunch of racist power hungry fucks a little under 300 years ago thought they were profound or inalieable doesn't make it true.
You've built a moral tower of ivory on a bed of sand and none of this has to do with cartoons. Faggot.

We in America haven't had the power to overthrow the government for a long time, current military technology is way the fuck beyond any gun in existence. They'd instantly swat us down for good or ill.
But the American gun thing is cultural and emotional. People try to layer over their emotions with logic. People from other countries will never understand just like I don't understand Muslim women covering their hair.
That said, owning guns isn't bad, not as big a deal as people make it out to be, spree killings are still relatively rare, guns are a bigger problem in poor urban areas though.
But this is all fucking off-topic, let's talk about Journal 3 or something.

I have to point out that what you are saying in regards to the american peoples ability to resist its government is largely untrue. It has been shown that a determined populace, armed with only small arms, is entirely capable of resisting the might of even superpowers.
The real question is the American peoples will to resist, as Americans lack the hardy nature of peasant guerrillas and their ability to tolerate the high casualties this kind of resistance brings about.

>>84102710
Afghanistan, the first Chechen war, the Viet Minh, Khmer Rouge and the Bolsheviks revolution are just the ones I can name off the top of my head.
Anyone else feel that we as Gravity Falls lovers should kill Alex Hirsch so that he may not besmirch its existence with his preaching? Better he die still somewhat loved than live to become the next Orson Scott Card.
>>84103198
"Recent times with recent technology" meaning less than fifty years ago.
>>84103198
RECENT times. With drone tech and current American planes, bombs, etc. It would be impossible without the military helping out. The only real possibility is extremely high casualities to the point the government has no support any longer. And people would have to be very united. Guns wouldn't be the deciding factor, but united public opinion could.
>>84102965
Considering the amount of time it took the whole show to finish its two-season-long run, I'd say there was plenty of time for rewrites. I mean, it's not as if the end product was that great; it doesn't seem like they employed their extra time well.

>>84103545
War has changed. It's no longer about nations, ideologies, or ethnicity. It's an endless series of proxy battles fought by mercenaries and machines. War - and its consumption of life - has become a well-oiled machine. War has changed. ID-tagged soldiers carry ID-tagged weapons, use ID-tagged gear. Nanomachines inside their bodies enhance and regulate their abilities. Genetic control. Information control. Emotion control. Battlefiled control. Everything is monitored and kept under control. War has changed. The age of deterrence has become the age of control.
>>84103490

Maybe if you don't intend to win the war.
This is a very American attitude to warfare, this belief that advanced technology and abundant resources can adequately replace human endeavour and the shedding of blood. This currently remains a fantasy, as drones alone cannot win wars, you still need actual soldiers to hold territory and close with the enemy.
But all of this is academic as the American people don't have the willpower to withstand a long term guerrilla campaign fighting their own government. The US would need to become a seriously terrible place to live for that to happen.
How to fix Bill
>>84104168
That's easy. Bill should have turned the entire Pines family into his harem, satisfying a huge chunk of the fanbase both here and abroad. Alex let his fans down.
Throw in Pyronica and a revived Giffany making Wendy and Pacifica sex slaves too and everyone would have been happy.

I don't think the amount of AU has much to do with the presence or lack of mysteries so much as the actual content of the show. They set up a universe where, in theory, anything could happen, so there's a ton of room to play around.
SU fans just exercise this is differently by creating a billion terrible Donut Steel-tier Gem OCs.
Having no real discussion other than this political crap makes me really sad, watching Gravity Falls after it aired is one of my biggest regrets. I missed so many threads.

Like Padippica? Well, what if instead of a sassy femdom-y Pacifica and awkward Dipper Dipper was a suave guy and a moe Pacifica had an akward crush on HIM? That kind of thing.

People complain that characters were pushed aside for bullshit, or that Bill was a wasted villain, but Giffany is the real tragedy of the show. An extremely attractive woman, who will go full yandere to protect you, while acting submissive at all other times. She can control devices, and travel through the Internet. Plus she's a computer program. It's the reason why Quorra from Tron Legacy is so attractive; not because it's Olivia Wilde, but because she doesn't really exist.also more Giffany pics please

It was literally the only good pairing in the show
Wendy was inconsistent as hell, early on they played her way older than she actually was and later made it clearly its only a 2 year difference which is pretty small even in high school, freshman dated juniors all the time. It was like the writers were doing a "will they won't they" themselves with the writers not knowing if Dipper and Wendy was suppose to be a thing or not
Pacifica might have actually been a decent alternative if she had gotten a single episode after her redemption
Really that just left Pinecest to be the only actually reasonable ship left. also lets be honest /co/ is actually pretty pro incest

As with most things involving Reverse Pines, the problem is that writers have different takes on what is "canon."
My personal idea would be that Reverse Windip mirrors the show in that Wendy is uninterested in a smitten Dipper. In this case Dipper's interest in her is partially attraction and partially him seeing it as a personal challenge to win her over without coercion.

Some people were talking about whether you should feel bad for Bill or not and the thing is you don't know, because we don't know what the fuck was even up with him, save for like one line in the finale that could have been more bullshit. There were a lot of hints throughout the second season that Gravity Falls had a deeper involvement with Bill: the Northwest family having a shrine to Bill in their house, the Blind Eye's hideout looked to be a repurposed structure that had symbols that you see in Ford's visions and journals, McGucket even mentions running into a secret society of geometry worshippers, etc. It seemed like it was going lead into the explanation/reaveal of what Bill's endgame was, but it was never brought up again so it seems like it was cut for time. Which was a little disappointing.
There were also questions about Ford's time in the portal that a few people were hoping would be elaborated on a little more, and maybe some of the little questions like why Blind Ivan is in Journal 3, where Robbie got the mind control CD, and so forth.
A lot of the questions that weren't answered are minor enough that they aren't that big of a deal, though considering how rushed the second half of the last season was you do get the impression that they had much bigger plans in mind for the finale that they didn't get to full utilize.
>>84117832
That sounds like a lot of hot air.
Man, I miss GF but I can't go back to hiatuses and guessing secrets and 600 pages of possible lore everyday. And fighting the goddam capefag mods. GF was so exhausting. The end sucked and we should have had a third season, but I'm also glad it's over.
I'm so tired. Imagine I posted Dipper's lamby striptease sequence or Mabel's ice cream sequence for you. It's too much work today.
>>84119117
>the Northwest family having a shrine to Bill in their house
I don't remember this. Maybe they bought it because they're rich and it looked good. Shitty explanation, but possible.
>It seemed like it was going lead into the explanation/reaveal of what Bill's endgame was
Conquering the world?
>where Robbie got the mind control CD
Wasn't he just using subliminal messages?
> the Blind Eye's hideout looked to be a repurposed structure that had symbols that you see in Ford's visions and journals
The Blind's Eye was founded by McGucket wasn't it? And McGucket knew about Bill when he was working with Ford.
>There were also questions about Ford's time in the portal that a few people were hoping would be elaborated on a little more
I agree with this. But it was probably just him surviving in Bill's
> Blind Ivan is in Journal 3
I don't remember this either. What episode?
i dont think the future segments get enough hate here. it just felt completely out of line with the rest of the show. its like something out of family guy.
So I started binging the series and just finished it a few hours ago. I personally loved it.
I haven't been on /co/ the entirety of Gravity Falls lifetime, but it seems that the consensus is that it's great up until Season 2 episode 11: Not What He Seems. Also that the finale sucked. Am I right on this?
>>84120002

>>84120035
Yeah. A while ago someone made an archive post of the talkback threads for each episode. The fan reception on 4chan really soured during the second half of season two.
In the early threads of season two, people were even praising Alex for how much things had improved.

>>84090867
I'd watch that show.
>>84120149
Everyone has autism on 4chan.

>>84119912
>Maybe they bought it because they're rich and it looked good.
Pacifica's father also had his own memory canister on the shrine in Blind Eye's hide-out, which was shown to be where the most important memories, and the same episode where they showed the Bill Cipher shrine in their home home also showed that the Northwest have a long history of covering up shady shit, so it's not exactly unlikely that someone in the Northwest family was involved with Bill at some point.
>The Blind's Eye was founded by McGucket wasn't it
When you look at the hideout, it's clearly older than Blind Eye could be, and there's symbols carved into the walls that match the symbols on the larger version of the zodiac that shows in Ford's journal and later his dreams - which seems to suggest that not only were there generational zodiacs for each step in Bill's plan, but that there was another cult or society before Fiddleford took it over and made the Blind Eye.
>I don't remember this either. What episode?
It shows up a couple times, but the first time is in Dreamscaperers. It also shows up once or twice in the first part of Weirdmaggedon.
>>84120035
Yeah, that's the consensus. Well, people are divided on the finale, but thinking it sucked isn't an unpopular opinion.
>>84120164
The problem was season 2b didn't have enough in it. Aside from NWHS backstory and the finale, there were only about 4 episodes of other stuff, and those had mostly little to no paranormal activity and little to no Ford. It was honestly underwhelming, especially after NWHS.
The series also has a problem with loose ends.
>Stan's tattoo?
Oh just a random burn mark
>The wheel?
Doesn't get used in the end, massive Chekhov's gun violation
>Stan's similarities to Bill?
Red herring.
Why don't we make /cog/?
i came over to this show because people told me mabel was like homura akemi
as it turns out the only thing mabel and homura have in common is destroying the known universe
but where as homura MEANT to do it as an ultimate rejection of Kierkegaardian ideals
mabel did it because she's a dumb little slut
>>84120308
>>Stan's similarities to Bill?
>Red herring.
I actually didn't mind this so much since it kind of felt foreshadowing to Stan and Bill's confrontation in the finale.
What did seem odd though was that the show went out of its way to make sure that Stan and Bill never had any direct contact with each other and make it as ambiguous as possible whether or not Stan even knew who Bill was, but then when the finale rolled around Stan just handwaves it like "oh Bill, I guess I know him or whatever"
Seems like a lot of effort to keep those two characters from interacting, especially when their combined personalities would've been a lot of fun to bounce off each other.
>>84120222
All good points that I missed. Probably because I binged it.
>>84120308
>Stan's tattoo? Oh just a random burn mark
Why was this one bad? I understand why he wouldn't want to explain the mark to Dipper and Mabel
>The wheel? Doesn't get used in the end, massive Chekhov's gun violation
I think that was the point. Some shows do this to make the situation feel more hopeless and leaving the characters to resort to more drastic measures.
>Stan's similarities to Bill? Red herring
What similarities?
> those had mostly little to no paranormal activity
The only one that wasn't paranormal was The Stanchurian Candidate, which was more Sci-fi because of the mind control, so it was still ok.
> there were only about 4 episodes of other stuff, and those had mostly little to no paranormal activity and little to no Ford. It was honestly underwhelming, especially after NWHS.
I still really enjoyed those episodes, but I can understand feeling underwhelmed if you watched those episodes while they were being released. I read about Disney's weird schedule for releasing the episodes. Again, I binged it so I was satisfied with the quicker pace back to the main story and fewer fillers.
>>84120644
>Why was this one bad? I understand why he wouldn't want to explain the mark to Dipper and Mabel
Different anon, but the amount of attention that was directed at the tattoo set up that it was important that the viewers notice it, and therefore set up the expectation that was much more important to the plot then it later turned out.
Not only was there a whole short dedicated to the tattoo, but before there were ciphers and codes encouraging that viewers pay attention to his tattoo, Bill's introduction had Bill show the tattoo symbol when he thinks of "Stanley" specifically, and showing it was burned into his skin when it was finally revealed how he got seemed like too symbolic of a gesture for it to not be addressed at least one more time before the show ended - even (or maybe especially) if it was just meant to be a physical representation of the current state of Ford and Stan's relationship.
>>84121104
The ciphers and codes probably encouraged you to pay attention to the tattoo because you can find it in the lab early on in Season 2.
>Bill's introduction had Bill show the tattoo symbol when he thinks of "Stanley" specifically, and showing it was burned into his skin when it was finally revealed how he got seemed like too symbolic of a gesture for it to not be addressed at least one more time before the show ended
I see your point.
I think what happened with Bill was that he noticed the tattoo and made the association that if Stanley has the tattoo, that means he knows about the lab and is probably trying to safe his brother. This is probably a stretch though.
>>84091002
\//\/
>>84120055
Same here, man.
It set the stage for a dozen more "Dipper gives up thing for Mabel" episodes
>>84120002
Whats stupid about it is that it preempts the entire finale.
Like who gives a fuck if Bill and his cronies are going to fuck up the world if it ends up fucked up in the future anyway?
Maybe its just more vindictive of how Alex Hirsch wants the world to end up. It will more or less look like that if liberals like him get their wish.
>>84121477
>that means he knows about the lab and is probably trying to safe his brother
Well, the problem with that theory was that it was already established right before that scene that Bill already what Stan had been doing: One of the "lots of things" he reveals is Stan going to the basement, when disguised as Soos he sees the same memory he shuts the door on it for being "boring" because he already knows that information, and the he suggest a couple times to Gideon and other characters that he has a limited foresight into the future (though admittedly he could be lying on this front) So it seems rather redundant if having Bill associate Stan with the symbol on his tattoo is meant to indicate that, especially when they other scenes in the same episode that did the same thing.
Branding also tends to be associated with either a sign of ownership of something/someone or a sign that the person with the brand as being condemned - such as marking them as a criminal or somehow undesirable/cursed/doomed - so having it be the first thing Bill thinks of when it comes to Stan rather than something like the symbol on his fez might've set people on edge and added to the feeling that the show wanted viewers to pay attention to his tattoo. That's just speculation on my part though.

it's slightly fucked up, but it's 100% unavoidable, because there's no such thing as disarmament that works on the bad guys. it's sort of like freeze-distillation. it's really easy to remove tons of water from alcohol right away, but the tiny bit left is too hard to freeze out. those holdouts are always the worst, because they're holding on the tightest.

>>84120480
That comparison was always bullshit. Complaints aside Homura is very active and competent, she rewrites reality entirely on purpose. Maybe if Mabel had made Bill her bitch and co opted Weirdmageddon for her own puposes she would deserve the comparison. Actually I remember something like that was a theory about what might happen with the bubble business but instead nothing happened and it was a pointless diversion that made no sense but well it was a cartoon for kids.
>>84123094
How was it pointless? It was her prison.
What show do I watch if I'm going through Gravity Falls withdrawal?
>>84120482
I somewhat suspect that at some point some notion arose to expound on the various symbols, some things about the town and Bill, the zodiac which started out as decoration but by the end of season 1 I think there was some idea to do something more with it, but these things were jettisoned when they decided for 2 seasons instead of 3. I'm not mad about that choice by the way, it might have been the right call, it's just a shame for me, I agree with others that 3 seasons would have been ideal but you get what you get, hell we almost got only 1 season and an incomplete story.

There was no good reason to bother putting her in there that was made clear, she was Gideon's "reward" for doing the job of protecting Mabel which was utterly circular logic, you can rationalize it and explain it but the whole point was not clear in the actual show. Bill's behaviour with the symbols also didn't make much sense since he knew they were his weakness, he should have killed a few but it's a Disney cartoon and Bill was pretty stupid in the last two episodes (not noticing the barrier for three whole days or having the slightest idea about it/what to do about it after planning this for a billion years, chasing Mabel and Dipper around like a retard instead of just using his omnipotent reality controlling abilities to catch them.)
But people have said all this before.
Really the show just had some really strong and well executed moments so the more standard cartoon fare felt a little dissapointing, but it's not like it was bad, just more typical.
>>84123211

The real problem with Mabel is that she had nothing to lose. She always has an upper hand on Dipper because she never has anything to sacrifice for a greater good.
Which is why Sock Opera is actually a good episode; Mabel actually gets something she's forced to give up to help her brother.
It'd be great if we saw a situation where Mabel had to, say, give up her friendships to help Dipper with his mysteries, because it's force her to give up something really important to her, and maybe force character development.
How smart do you think Dipper is?

But the point is the Time Baby destroys the world thing still happens and is even mentioned in the sample choose your own adventure series released
It cuts into the drama of NWHS and DaMvtF a bit when you remember Family Guy future is the canon endgame for this world anyway.
Now does the future recover after TB goes back to the past, who knows but the world is still destroyed, I don't know if TB can escape the loop or had others who will take over the horrible future world and rule in his stead or what, Blendin survived so maybe he takes over

Gun control is an issue to debate about because common sense (regulating who can get guns is a good idea) is in direct conflict with the Constitution (the right to bear arms shall not be infringed). This causes problems, because the Constitution can never be wrong.
